If an animal is snarling and trying to kill me, I'm going to try and kill it back.

If an animal is sitting and is wagging his tongue playfully, I'm going to try and kil...I mean stroke it gently.

I don't even like killing all the animals that would otherwise attack you in games like NWN or Oblivion...I just try to sneak past them.
I do this as well. Even in WoW or WAR, I prefer killing humanoids.

How is it animal cruelty to defend yourself from a rabid dog that's trying to bite you cock off?
A firm "My cock is not a doggie treat" works wonders.
Of course! Why didn't I think to try to REASON with that rabid dog? Maybe I can convince those ants out back to GTFO through diplomacy. :)
Trying anthing else is just rude and uncultured and impolite and not nice at all!
You're right. We should probably outlaw the pest control service. Orkin is nothing but a bunch of criminals that deserve to burn in hell. Those roaches have just as much right to my food as I do!

Having butchered a fair share of animals personally (joys of country living,) I can say I'd rather kill animals in a game than in real life.

As such, in games I actually don't perceive them so much as animals as I do "enemies" or "monsters."

If I remember correctly, attack dogs have been a staple enemy since Wolfenstein.
This is just some high school drama queen with a bee in her bonnet, unfortunately it's a noisy bumble-bee, in a week no-one will care.

Indeed, death throes are nasty.

It is just shooting fake dogs modeled on real dogs with fake guns modeled on real guns. This desensitization thing was never true.

Whoa now. Who said anything about roaches? Fuck roaches. They need to die.
They are not one of Gods' Creatures, they are the tool of THA DEVIL (tm)
Yeah, all life is sacred; unless its ugly. The animal rights movement is TOTALLY not hypocritical.

Yeah, I accidently said Ney (I was answering the topic headline and not the actual poll question), but any ways, "anti-dog killing girl in video games", this song goes out to you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfpcxU2DK-E

I think before we start worrying about animal cruelty we would have to start worrying about human cruelty first. And the only people we need to worry about playing these games are the mentally unstable ones.
I used to kill dogs back in wolfenstien. The only time I would kill a dog these days is if its trying to maul me, just like the dogs in these games.
We should think of CoD as being an educational tool for children, if a dog runs at you growling and slavering, you fuckin put it down. Without games like CoD kids might not know what to do in situations like this. And kids all know there isn't any restart in real life.

A moment of silence please for all those kids that have fallen.

Anyone who's going to take a video game and do those things in real life is a f**king idiot who shouldn't be allowed to watch the news since sometimes there are gun fights on it. You can't argue that animal rights are the main problem in COD:WaW anyways; I can think of five things worse than killing dogs in WaW right off the top of my head (also note I've only ever played the game once):
1. Stereotypes Japanese people as kamikaze freaks
2. Stereotypes Germans as Nazis
3. Killing other people=good
4. teaches you to take the initiative in killing people (singleplayer campaign=you running up in front guns-a-blazin' while everyone else waits until it's safe to cross the street)
5. guns are the only way to save you (try getting through the game without shooting people)

I'm thinking these kids are trying to get some attention and show off how much more nice and smart they are than everyone else but all it's really doing is showing off how they're missing the point. Also, this logic that people emulate video games also applies to everything else (if you accept the psychological evidence). I don't see anyone complaining about violent tv shows, violent books, violent news, or actually violent events. It seems to me like there's a remarkable inconsistency in how we apply these morals that screams of "political attacks disguised as moral outrage". I'm sure PETA is going to get behind this and make it a big ol' news f**kfest.
