There will always be a group of bleeding hearts who take offense at the most inane elements of any game, movie, song or what-have-you. I've found the best way to deal with them is to not dignify their idiotic concerns with discussion. Basically... ignore the hell out of them.

Did these saps have any objection to the fact that you spend much more of WaW firing at human beings? Doubt it.

What a stupid thing to get upset about. As previously stated, by saying that killing virtual animals is going to make you more likely to kill real ones, you are by default also arguing that killing virtual people will turn you into a murderer. Total bullshit.

The dogs in the COD series serve as nothing more than obstacles that need to be removed, just like everything else in that game. You aren't killing people or animals, you are playing a fucking video game.

And on a completely honest side note, if a dog pinned me down in real life and was attempting to bite my throat open, I would try my fucking hardest to kill it before it kills me.

Its funny. theres a couple things id like to point out

If given a gun, and told there are exactly enough shots to disable a certain number of attack dogs, going to be released very soon, im sure the animal rights activists would choose life.

Also, where are the Duck Hunt protesters?
Why were they not outraged by CoD 4?
The Cabella's Hunting games?

If I play a game with killing in it, I kill everything with no remorse.
It's just a game; you're not really killing anything. Get that into your head.
This, exactly this. If it's a killing game, then I kill. I don't care if it's a dog, a cat, a human etc.

I mean, in this game, children will be killing animals. Animals! That's horrible. As if killing humans wasn't bad enough!
You know what? Games, along with other forms of media-literature, movies, paintings, drawing- all of them should only have happy, more child oriented content. Always. We need to protect our children and show them that the real world is a candy-filled, happy-go lucky place of fun, and that entertainment can only be found in the purest of medias.
I rest my case.
This must be sarcasm... it must...

No. Definitely not.

I don't think Cruelty to humans in games is a serious issue - it's horrific entertainment - people have been watching brutal stuff in movies for decades. Tom Savini has been making even the most hardened of us cringe in horror for years.

But if there's a game, such as manhunt, with brutal human slayings for someone elses entertainment, then there is no room at all to suddenly distress that the animal rights are being violated within the game.

It's a game. It's an artistic medium, even the most brutal aspects of it. Honestly, the Wolf in 300 got killed worse then any dog in CoD.

Why don't they get worked up over Pokemon? I mean, you actually capture animals and make them fight each other until one faints (dies). The ultimate animal abuse game!

Those people don't seem to grasp that The Dogs, in the game, are out to kill you and don't want to do anything else. And as Gigastrike said "hey, you kill people too". Why Is killing dogs not ok and killing people ok?

The people who are making such a big deal need to take into context what seems to be happening in the game. As everyone's example we can use that. Dog that is running, jumping, and landing on you trying to get at ya is totally different than dog laying down chewing on bone.

You can then apply this to real like then. Say you happen to be walking down the street and spot a dog sprinting at you showing its teeth. Common sense tells you he is going to attack you. You therefore have the right to defend yourself however you feel is necessary. On the other hand, you are walking down the same street and see a dog across a fence. You jumping the fence and kicking it for no reason constitutes cruelty.

If any parent sees this kind of problem, they need to get the kid help instead of passing the blame on.

I tear'ed up when i found a dead cat in Bioshock, it was located in a secret passage in Arcadia.

A crawlspace to be exact, you had to crouch to get in.

Sad little kitty, it had been dead for over 2 years and still no decomp.

there are a lot of inconsistancies here, and heres why

animal rights activists are the stupidest wastes of human life on the planet.

now, im not saying people who care about animals are bad, or that people who do things about it are bad, im saying the type of people who join clubs about it may as well be in PETA. they dont help anyone, and they fuck life up for the rest of us.

As a gamer and recreational hunter I am getting irritated by all this animal activist bullshit. As a hunter I never make an animal suffer it's always quick and clean. As for a game; why are you complaining? If it's a game the dog never existed nor will it ever, thus it had no feelings or being; so no, you were not abusing an animal; you were deleting several bits of code in a program. That's the devil's work you know what?

Or you know, age ratings and responsible parents.
Again, sarcasm. I should've made it more obvious.

I's not a serious issue, enemies in games can't only be based on humans.I think people are seriously overreacting.Next thing you know, threads about plant cruelty will pop up.

In the timesplitters games, particularly the third one, you get to decapitate monkeys man, and in the third one the announcer says CHIMPICIDE!!! (which is pretty cool)

As much as I like animals, this argument is ridiculous. Besides I wonder if these people actually know that the Russians strapped bombs to dogs and used them against tanks. Just like the U.S. tried to use bombs on bats which failed horribly. But back to the point, no it isn't a serious issue and anyone who thinks otherwise probably thinks that video games cause people to go and shoot up their school.
