Real ale, preferably from the British microbreweries (I like Belgian and German beers too, I just prefer the ale of my home country). I prefer Wychwood, Badger, Brains and Cains (mostly just to support my local boys - we can brew up a damn fine raisin beer). Yup, I loves me some real beer.
It's just hard to get in most pubs. The ones that do sell the good stuff (and take care of it properly) tend to charge a lot. I can drink lager but that stuff doesn't agree with me at all. The only times I've ever been vomitting drunk have been when I've been drinking lager.
So when I can't get my fix I tend to drink whiskey. I prefer bourbons, I think I'm the only person I know that prefers the taste of straight Jack Daniels to straight Jamesons. My party trick is doing the pepsi challenge with as many top shelf whiskeys as you can name. I won't be able to tell them apart, but the party host won't figure that out until I've already drank all their whiskey and I'm well on my way to the next party.
