What if there is an explanation for ghosts, it's just that you haven't found it YET?
I've heard enough stories from my family of their own encounters to say that they definitely are real.
My explanation for what they are? All that mental energy has to go somewhere...

I mean, considering it's the unkown, couldn't it also be God, an invisible alien, a demon, a gravitational F-up, a glitch in the Matrix, or even fairies?

I'll come off as an ass, but I'll put it out anyway.

People do come into these kind of rationalizations by taking a wrong idea and beginning from there. They say they "heard something," or that "it felt sooo real." Face it, that hardly proves anything other than what those people say is the truth...in their eyes.

Can ANYONE explain what a ghost is? I mean REALLY. Then, what is a person? what components that a person have somehow interact with reality in a way that produces some sort of incorporeal "image" of whatever.

I already went out on a limb, here, and actually gave a naturalistic explanation, my fault (and a dumb one) was not to provide sauce. Well, here's the sauce:

You have to at least give some credit to THAT. Now, would it be that there's some glitch in the system, we mammals have some kind of special property that insects don't, or more likely there's just LOTS of electromagnetic fields out there?

I do not believe in ghosts. I believe the souls of the dead go to either Heaven or Hell (I am Christian). However, some spectral images and spirit encounters I would put to demons messing around when they are given the opportunity. Their leader satan is the father of lies, so I wouldn't put it past them to lie about being a dead relative.

Although, in saying that, the bible does have a passage where the first King of Israel contacts a dead Prophet using a Medium.
