Recently I was talking to another Escapist user (lewism247) we were discussing the 'Metal Gear Solid' series of games. I said The first one on the PlayStation was the best and he said he would like to see it remade with better graphics.

Would you like to see old games brought back with up to date graphics? If so what game would you most like to see this done to?

I personally like playing MGS they way it its and wouldn't change the graphics even if I could.

EDIT: Here is a Wiki link for MGS, in case anyone else likes to know pointless facts like I do;

I like new graphics, but they make no difference as to whether it's a good game, as long as you can tell what's going on.

Physics engines and stuff, howeever....

Yes, I would love to see some of the old classics updated with graphics, as long as they kept everything else the same. Probably on the the top of my list is Morrowind. Just update the graphics, nothing else, they wouldn't even have to add voice. I quite liked the text boxes, plus it allowed for more dialog choices.

Honestly, if anybody does a remake of an old game like that, at least make it a new game, not just a port with pretty graphics. In other words, do it like they did with the original Metroid in Zero Mission. It clearly went above and beyond being just an old game with modern graphics, but it's definitely the same story, scenario, etc.

As much as I fucking hate MGS I would like to see games like KOTOR come back
Have you played the first one in the MGS series, the others are so bad by comparison.

If star wars republic commando was remade, or if they ever make that sequel that was totally set up at the end and never materialized, I would shit my pants. It would be awesome.

I would play old games with redone graphics, maybe then I can finally get into Morrowind without being disgusted.

Yeah its always good as long as its done well. mgs twin snakes was very good but half life source was a lazy addition of physics and nice water. Its always nice to see your favorite games with better graphics.

Really depends on the game and the system they came out on. I still think alot of last gen titles have graphics that are completely managable and don't take away from the game at all. But there are a lot of original PS games that I would love to see revamped.

oh definitely, some graphic and gameplay updates to classic titles would be great, we all saw the awesomeness that was the monkey island update, if more games companies, or just lucasart as they still have plenty of classics at their disposal, would take the time to that to please the fanboys instead of "taking the franchise in a new direction" i would shiver with happiness.

Shadow of the Colossus.

The graphics have definitely aged. You can't tell me that desolate wasteland and those colossi wouldn't just look lovely with a modern touch up.

There's a bunch of guys remaking Half Life using the source engine www.blackmesasource.com
and before you guys say its been done (Half Life: Source) all that was was the old game churned through the new engine, these guys are remaking it all by hand using HL2 set pieces and all the physics and stuff! Sweet huh
