Yes, and Jeff Dyck. Man, they were musical magicians. Not to mention the tracks were a lot more interesting back then. I heard about it but haven't gotten around to playing it yet.PayJ567 said:I wouldn't try to convince you otherwise and I agree that MGS1 was better than MGS2 but I believe MGS3 was the best in the series and where the side series has led on from that point.IrirshTerrorist said:I enjoyed 'MGSPayJ567 said:Ah, the difference of opinion. I found the Metal Gear solid games to improve with age, granted I haven't played MGS4 but I have been playing the portable editions and Naked snake's games are far superior to Solid Snake's although this is just my opinion.IrirshTerrorist said:When it comes to games/movies/etc that I like I am a bit of a oureist and TwinSnakes sounds like it has to many changes.PayJ567 said:I don't know, But its bloody awesome a total revamp of the first gameIrirshTerrorist said:I don't have a Gamecube. Sorry its wikipedia but it had alot of information on the game.
"The Twin Snakes features graphical improvements over the original, new cut scenes written and directed by Ryuhei Kitamura, and gameplay functions originally introduced in the sequel Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. The game also includes a revised translation with re-recorded voice acting using most of the original English voice cast"
That paragraph tells me that they have changed so much that it just won't be the same experience.ortable Ops' and the expansion on PlayStationPortable. Other than that the newer games fail to live up to MGS in every way.
Like you said, however, that is my opinion and it wouldn't be the first time that I stuck to some purist belief when all those around me were saying I was wrong. I like what I like and that is not going to change.
Off topic: Have you played the Peace Walker demo? If you have what were your thoughts, I believe it was a step in the right direction for the portable series, and brought back a much loved element of MGS3, although the A.I. was very dodgy.
this. Games like FF4 being remade for the DS is a good idea, because now we get some better spell casting and actual lighting effects. But then there's Bionic Commando.Simalacrum said:It depends on the game.
I did like the open world of more recent NFS games because of the police chases. An open world Atlantica whatever would be awesome, especially if you could also travel to a bunch of suitably insane closed circuits.Xeros said:Yes, and Jeff Dyck. Man, they were musical magicians. Cool, well thanks for the heads-up.PayJ567 said:See that you do, its a very good edition to the portable series. If you liked portable ops, you will enjoy this even if it is only a demo.IrirshTerrorist said:I heard about it but haven't gotten around to playing it yet.
They licensed them from Konami. I don't think Konami plays favourites. Besides I recall hearing that the President of Nintendo and the head of Konami are good friends.IrirshTerrorist said:I don't have a Gamecube. Atlantica, Aquatica, Empire City, Mystic Peaks... the environments would be so varied, and awesome. Combine that with the musical genius of the aforementioned artists, and the customization of the newer titles, that game would never get boring.Zetona said:I did like the open world of more recent NFS games because of the police chases. I actually have the original MGS installed and ready to play because a mate told me I really should. The only thing that puts me off is the graphics so I share your pain.IrirshTerrorist said:Recently I was talking to another Escapist user (lewism247) we were discussing the 'Metal Gear Solid' series of games. Would you like to see old games brought back with up to date graphics? If so what game would you most like to see this done to?
I personally like playing MGS they way it its and wouldn't change the graphics even if I could.
Cool! I had no idea. It's true that HL:S wasn't special. I haven't played it but the screenshots weren't too convincing that it was using the source engine. It's like they added new textures and kept the polygon count.megalomania said:There's a bunch of guys remaking Half Life using the source engine www.blackmesasource.com
and before you guys say its been done (Half Life: Source) all that was was the old game churned through the new engine, these guys are remaking it all by hand using HL2 set pieces and all the physics and stuff! Sweet huh
Republic Commando's not THAT old. It's no Crysis but it still looks good... good enough to play. At least the character heads don't look like a cement block like in MGS.Omikron009 said:If star wars republic commando was remade, or if they ever make that sequel that was totally set up at the end and never materialized, I would shit my pants. It would be awesome.
Well it could allow new players that are put off by old graphics to experience a great older game. I mean, if the conversion isn't hard and they manage to keep the cost low enough to sell it for something like £10, why not? It certainly hasn't hurt the games they've already done it on (FreeSpace, X-Wing Alliance on the user mod front and Serious Sam HD on the commercial front).razbuten363 said:No, no, no, no, a million times, no. What's the point of a simple graphical upgrade? It would be more beneficial to make a new game. At least TRY and be innovative and fresh with your ideas.
