Where's the option for "as long as they don't remake them to look like the DS FF3 and FF4"

The thing about old games is, most of them can't stand up to the modern games even with a graphical face-lift.

Not to mention new and/or old developers on the project would start adding or removing shit, and then you're left with a once-proud nostalgia trophy reduced to a oozing mass of fail and shattered dreams huddled on the floor shaking a battered, empty tin cup at passers-by in hopes of alms while the crowd watching distainfully ignores it and small children throw rocks.

I'd love to see the pre-2000 Need for Speed games remade, but they couldn't just update the graphics and be done with it. So much of what we expect from a game has changed in ten years that it would be better to start from scratch and create a game in the same basic style.
Need for Speed: Hot pursuit was the shitz!!! But really i loved that game more than life itself when i was able to play it without the graphics sucking.

lately i would have to say no,

if they have time to do remakes, they have time to make new and intersting games or at least continue the series.

but we all know companies follow the money and safe factor of things.

It shows a lack of originality but it's still cool to play classic games remade with modern graphics and game-play.

Even if it's only a mod (can't wait for Black Mesa)

As cool as it might be, I always like a game's original graphics better. Don't know why, but I do.

Of course I want old games to have new graphics. Remake some old games with the Crysis Engine. Final Fantasy X comes to mind. Hell, they don't even have to be old. I want to play Oblivion and Fallout 3 with Crysis graphics and physics on the trees and what not.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO FUCKING NO!

This comes up all the time.

Say we take a game, Goldeneye for the 64 in this case, and deck it out with the shiz graphics and all that neat stuff.

Now we have crap AI, Physics, Geometry, Controls, and Story with a coat of gloss paint.

Man, that sounds totally awesome. /sarcasm.
Your wish, sir, has been granted: http://www.moddb.com/mods/goldeneye-source

And yes, it is dross.

Morrowind is incredible regardless of its graphics

i dont mind classic games as they are but to see them remade with upgraded graphics would be amazing. On my list for classic games with upgraded graphics would be:-

Final fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VIII
Metal Gear Solid 1
Crash Bandicoot! come on who didnt love Crash when they were little!
Morrowind
and last but not least Summoner

The only games that I really want to see remakes for are apparently getting/got them.

Pokemon Silver (GBC) has SoulSilver(DS) coming out in America this spring, Perfect Dark(N64) has a remake for the XBL marketplace sometime in February and Half Like(PC/PS2) supposedly has a remake for the PC coming out. (if this trailer is real, then holy shit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCpkQGsDftw )

Remakes are great, especially NES remakes. I love to play Tetris on the Gameboy Colour, and I really want to download the one for psp if I can get 6 bucks of intangible money. I love remakes, better graphics but same gameplay. THAT, my friend, is the works of genius.

Any game that is remade is going to be horrible personally i feel that if you have a game and it has bad graphics it doesn't matter as long as you have FUN with it, personally i just feel that.

Morrowind is like a really ugly woman; She has an awesome personality and a great sense of humour, but she is just too fugly.

As much as I'd love to see a next-gen Ocarina of Time, I'd have to say Twilight Princess came pretty close to it. They even fixed the Water Temple so that you couldn't get stuck forever! Don't get me wrong, it's still a pain in the ass, but at least it's not unnecessarily mean this time around.

I'd personally love to see the original Doom remade, level for level, in more modern graphics. Yes, I'm aware that there's a mod for Doom 3 that does this, but I'm talking about a whole new game from scratch with its own engine and better monster designs. Seriously, Doom 3's demons were either gray, spider based, or both. (Well, maybe except for the Cacodemon, who was a dull brown floating thing with four eyes.)

Tie Fighter or the Wing Commander series.
Duke Nukem 3d (seeing as DN4 was canned)
Mechwarrior.

I'll likely think of more later, but those are a few of my old faves.

Maybe I would finally play all those classics that have somehow slipped my mind over the years.

Yes, I would love to see some of the old classics updated with graphics, as long as they kept everything else the same. Probably on the the top of my list is Morrowind. Just update the graphics, nothing else, they wouldn't even have to add voice. I quite liked the text boxes, plus it allowed for more dialog choices.
Hear hear!
