Technically, it's both. Half of the glass is full and the other half is empty.

"Dont ask me about if the glass is half full or half empty, I'm a realist and I see that the glass is at half capacity"

Paraphrased from someone on the escapist who heard it from a kid.

As an engineer I would like to state that the glass has been designed with overcapacity.

If I am filling the glass, it's half full.

If I am emptying the glass, it's half empty.

Otherwise, it's just half a glass.
This, I am not a pessimist nor an optimist, I am a logiest!

The answer is simple: It depends on the state of the liquid in the glass. If you are filling it and stop half way then it is half full. If you are emptying the glass and stop half way then it is half empty.

It really depends on what is actually in the glass. Something gross, likely half full. Something nice, Half empty :(
