I went with 'other' - having been a heavy goth in my misguided youth, I feel a certain tenderness and afinity whenever I stroll through the Camden markets, but it's also that nostaliga that makes me think "This is all kind of melodramatic".
I guess, but there are large cliques of goths who I'd have to say dress horribly then, the majority maybe, even. That, or something is wrong with the style (in my view), when I can only find a small measure of it attractive. I guess we'd have to look at pictures and see whether that would count as "a little goth", "proper goth" or "over-the-top goth" in our respective opinions to actually answer the question whether I like seeing girls dressed as what you would see as "proper goth", if you get what I'm trying to say. It's difficult to know whether what I already consider unattractive would also already be "over-the-top goth" in your opinion or not.Shuswah_Noir said:

3 examples of very different styles are Heavy Red, Tripp NYC and Lip Service. They each cater to different genres of 'goth'.
In my opinion only girls can pull it off if its done right, guys just look 'gay' (not that i have any problem with homosexuals, but most of the time thats not their intention). Of course its a matter of taste, i just find it ridiculous and weird, maybe thats because goth clothing is very very rare where i`m from.

I can just say that girls dressing in black and maybe being a little pale with black hair can be quite cute and attractive, but I don't know anything about the specifics of goth-subtypes. When their clothes are totally torn up, spikey or lacy, I don't think that is generally attractive, though (I'm sure there are exceptions).
Depends on the person wearing it, I started dating with a 5'6" 120 lb girl with a fairly large chest and great curves with some very nicely fitted goth style clothes, as well as the brooding attitude and what I found out later would be some form of manic depression. The girl I dated after that was 5'4" and about 160lbs again with a large chest (you can tell what I go for), whom dressed in jeans and t-shirts. One day the second girl tried the goth stuff because she thought I liked it and even went so far as dying her hair. Unfortunately that is when she found out that I liked her the way she was in a less than discussion.
I don't want it taken to massive extremes. A skull here and there, some darker colours and just a little bit of kink; like one of those belt collars but no more than that. But any more that that and it gets freaky and quite off putting

Sadly, my town does not have a pirate fashion store.
I don't mind it. It works better with some people than with others (it rarely seems to work well on guys, especially of the square-jawed variety). I hang around with quite a few people who dress like it, so I can't say I really care.
