I think cyber goth chicks are pretty sexy, and in my teens I had a long, dark coat and a weird hairdo. Goths ok in my book.

Depends. As with any look, a lot of getting it right requires a person to know what does and does not suit them. If they get it wrong, then it looks silly and affected regardless.
I quite like some goth styles, although as a female of fairly intermediate build I often find it difficult to find something that isn't either for a tiny wee waif or what a friend of mine termed a "gothapotamus". It's very odd that both ends of the female physiology spectrum are catered for, but not the middle. Or perhaps I look in the wrong places... I do have height in my favour though (6' tall), so I can pull off wearing a long coat with relative ease.
Steampunk's where it's at from my POV, though I haven't got many steampunk-ish clothes. However, I'd like to own a corset one day...

I absolutely love women interested in the gothic style. I'm not at all familiar with all the subtypes of Goth, but nothing turns me on more than a woman in a black, form fitting dress (a few rips in the legs are a plus), chains (optional), finger armor (optional), collar (choker, I believe), black (or maybe red) lipstick, a pale face with crazy contact lenses and black hair with blue highlights.

I dig women in goth clothing. Guys generally look pretty silly, though. Okay, strictly speaking the women also look silly, but in a hot way. No, my problem with Goths is related entirely to architecture. I love gothic architecture, but when I tell people of my/our generation that, they think I mean set pieces in Anne Rice movies and immediately assume I'm into Goth music, which I most definitely am not.

*nods* I freely admit that my knowledge of the goth sub-culture is lacking, but my impression has always been that showmanship plays a big part. It's making a statement, and that requires a lot of self-confidence. It's the reason I was always rather impressed by the girl I used to see wearing a top-hat around Uni.Generic Gamer said:

I have a friend who does the goth look. All the time. Even in summer here in Australia, with temperatures of 40 degrees (Celsius). Man is dedicated lol.

OT: AS long as girls are the ones pulling off the style sensibly (i.e. not over the top) then I'm cool with it (Take Stocking as an example, pull that stuff into real life and you got something I'll agree with). But guys just look weird when doing it.
Also has anyone seen/heard about the style of 'happy' Goth? I think I encountered it on the internets a while back and I found it freaky.
I like it. Although I've never dressed as a Goth, I think it looks pretty awesome (especially on women, they look incredibly attractive to me). It's different and it's fashion that makes a statement. I guess I enjoy the boldness of it too. The dyed hair is exotic and pleasing when done well and the clothing' dramatic nature is nice to see sometimes.

As well as hating the "non-conformist" aspect of it I have the additional problem that I figure something must be wrong with someone who spends that long on their appearance. I want to leave the house I grab jeans and a t-shirt, not because it looks good, but because it's convenient, clothes don't define a person.

Personally, I like the goth style very much. I don't really have that style, though, the only thing that's remotely "goth" is my black coat.

Goths can look good, but thats not to say that they all do. Personally, i'd love to be able to pull off a Gothic outfit, but I feel uncomfortably pretentious just wearing my longcoat...
