It doesn't bother me at all, and I will never understand why it bothers other people so much. Either they're "childish" and "unholy", or "pretentious" and a "poser".
Neither of these two groups seem to be interested in the idea that they just like how it looks. I wasn't interested in it, but it's been creeping into my style more and more recently. I just like the associations that come with wearing black, rings and silver crosses. I might as well go full stereotype now that I'm here, at least then people will know a bit about who I am just at a glance. Morbidity, dark places, horror movies, photography? I'm there!
I could definitely date a girl who wore something she picked up at Hot Topic or a rock culture store, or hang out with them if it were a guy. Just because they didn't have to get it in some darkened store and pay twice as much doesn't mean they aren't cool people. I don't give two shits about what the "trend" is.
