Is it me, or does the newer GTA's miss the awesomeness of the older ones?

It's not just you. They went for the more realistic approach (at least, compared to the older titles) in GTA 4 and its episodes.

Vice City I thought was amongst the best, as well as the one I played the most. Kind of miss it because I sold it, but Vice City Stories on PSP is pretty damn good fun.. which reminds me, the PSP ones aren't on here!

Yea. I love Vice City Stories. Maybe even a little bit more than the original Vice City but that would probably just be because of Phil Collins. The original Vice City was one of the best games on the ps2 but I would have to say my favorite is still San Andreas.
It was just so big and there was so much to do, I felt like I was never going to exhaust the possibilities. The only game this gen that almost came close to that scale of crazy things to do is Saints Row2... and maybe Fallout 3 a little bit behind that.

Really, the only way that San Andreas could've been better is if you could play as Catlina instead.

Definitely 4. As awesome as the PS2 ones were, the controls were absolutely horrible. GTA 4 fixed a lot of the control issues, and is the better game for it.

san andreas wins because it has a jetpack. jetpacks will always win.

Vice City, but i cant exactly point why i prefer it over even GTA san andreas

maybe it was the setting and the atmosphere overall

I voted Vice City, but it was a tie between that or San Andreas
