I liked FFXI cause it was the most in-depth I've ever seen an MMO get. :D And cause it was awesome of course!

Maybe you missed the developer showdown, because you forgot DDO. I KNOW people will want to vote for that. I do.

I'm gonna say Matrix online, a very underated game in my opinion.. and I know its not on the poll as i'll save my vote just in case hehe.
Matrix online has around 60 active players(half of which have played for years, I know someone on it with 200 days played time!). and everyone knows everyone on it due to the lack of players. Not many sign up to it, but once people get into the game, they're their for a long time. And unlike many other games people actually get into the spirit of it, there's three individual "gangs" and there is a true rivalry between each "gang". constant battles going on, and people always trying to recruit newbies, saying why they are the better choice.

I'm the only vote (so far) for everquest... makes me sad inside seeing a whole generation not experience the grandfather of mmos (including ultima i suppose, never was a fan). Too many people seem to have got caught up with WoW and are missing out on the classics!

I voted for RuneScape because I like all the quest storylines and how well they are thought up, wait let me take that back, most of the quests have good storylines. =P
But if you don't think RS is good whatever everyone has there own tastes in MMORPGs but you don't need to shout it to the heavens screaming RUNESCAPE SUCKS BALLS GET A LIFE or something along those lines because you'll just be talking to yourself making you seem crazy.

How could you even question this? WoW will always come on top, just look at the votes already.

What's your favorite MMO? Personally it's a tie between WoW and WAR. If I left any MMO's that you think are good that I forgot to list, please tell me. :p

and don't go whining about how WoW is the only good MMO in the world. Give other things a try to suck your soul in before you go on ranting on about how Blizzard are the greatest Game Developers in the world. Cause everyone knows it's Valve. ;)

(I'll also add to the poll as I remember more games)

If some of these games have almost none or no votes is because i just added them in at about 21:21
If you're asking for our favourite then why'd you make the title "Greatest"

I prefer Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine Online... But that's not an option...

Where's the option for there's isn't one? I've yet to play an MMO that I thought was ground breaking or amazing in any respect. Each one has its elements, that make it enjoyable for a while, but none have ever really captured me or made me want to play non-stop. Perhaps Aion can do that for me, or maybe Star Trek online, we'll see though.

Pre:R Ultima Online is the best MMORPG hands down. For a partying non-PvP MMO FFXI would have to be my choice.

Since both of those are not on the list I voted for DAoC since it held my interest for three years with its fun PvP\Sieging.

I would say COH. You can roleplay as a somewhat powerful being, rather than a worthless maggot who needs 39 other trolls to kill a SINGLE OTHER TROLL WEARING IDENTICAL GEAR. Warcraft, by it's very design, renders roleplaying as a truly powerful warrior impossible, and in point of fact roleplay itself impossible. (Having to do a dungeon quest 300 times in a row to complete a set MAKES NO CANONICAL SENSE.) Having roleplaying servers just makes no sense for that game. It also has suffered horrendously from class imbalances throughout it's existence, truly hellish inflation, and is just a bad game overall. I think the only reason people like it is because the Artists, Voice Actors, and Story Writers did a incredible job-thus making the 'packaging" the gameplay comes in some of the best, if not THE best, out there.

But personally, I don't want to play as a worthless maggot who needs 39 other friends to take down one member of his own species. That's pathetic. Personally, I like for a world to have cohesion, enough so that ROLE-PLAYING is actually possible, and where the player is powerful enough to kill opponents honorably. Sadly, COH/COV is the closest there is on that subject.

Oh, and in COH/COV you can adjust the size of your female character's breasts. Case Closed.

However, I actually consider Star Wars Galaxies to have the best game DESIGN of any MMO I have ever seen. However, SWG had the worst EXECUTION I have ever seen also. Pistoleer, for example, wasn't underpowered for several years- it was BROKEN for several years. Disarming Shot, your ultimate attack, never actually worked, period. What was truly dissapointing is that it's DESIGN was the best for roleplaying. It was the most pro-freedom design I have ever seen..you could any skill sin the game within a set poitn allotment, thus preventing god modding and allowing Freedom of expression at the same time. In Warcraft, Your warrior is infintesimally different from all the other warrior clones.

I would have to say FFXI. I found it a bit more to my liking, well atleast in terms of the physical enviroment and the look of the game. I liked the fact that you could have a bunch of different classes on one character, so you could still work on the same exact charter and still feel like your going something diffrent. I have to admit that I loved the fact that you could have subjobs in the game.

However, they way that your spelles and abilities were set up mad it very diffuclt to play beyond level twenty if you were caster oriented and didnt know how to work the highly unintuitive macro system.

I would have to say the wow is the freindlyest interms of entering an MMO. High fun for low(er) effort then in other games.

Where, oh where, can my little leaf be?
Oh where, oh where could it be?

Seriously... why no MapleStory? I like MapleStory. The reason I like it so much is mainly because its really fun to go out with your friends.
Like...
I chose the worst class (A bowman) and yet, I still can play an effective role with my friends. I kill things from afar, my friends beat the snot out of things that are close.
That, and its a nice thing to do with my girlfriend. Tis' a dreadful thing, having to be a country apart from your lover.
