As I opened the thread I hoped there would be a "like both equally as much" option as i love them both so much. I voted GTA4 because I have 100%ed it (and the expansions) as well as played it to death to the extent that I could be a cab driver for liberty city... pity it doesn't exist. Though saying that, rdr is just as awesome. its just that GTA4 ive put more time into.
Same for me, but with Red Dead.

I just felt more immersed with it and the story of Red Dead is fantastically compelling right up to it's tear jerker ending. However, GTA 4 is still a great game and would absolutely recommend to all.

Really, overall, just a huge approval to Rockstar for making great games :)

GTA IV bore me beyond words. Everything about it is boring. The story, the gameplay, the music, the physics. The physics engine that's supposed to be realistic is actually idiotic. It's all fine when NPC's are using it, but when you implement it so poorly in the main character it's frustrating. Niko walks like a barrel full of rocks. And the game doesn't offer anything new anyway. Older GTA games are far more superior to GTA IV.

Then you have Red Dead Redemption. The game is simply brilliant. Go buy it.

I like RDR, I prefer saints row 2 if I'm looking for a modern city based sandbox.

Both games have pretty exceptional storylines, with diverse and interesting characters. I'd opine that RDR's story was better but the gameplay in GTA 4 simply has a lot more on offer. RDR's setting works for it but it also severly limits the amount of things that you can do, which is kind of a kicker for a sandbox. So I'd go with GTA 4.

You need a 'neither' option.
RDR was okay, and I hated GTA IV to death. Saints Row is by far the better sandbox game.

RDR. Much better setting and story.

Not that this means GTAIV is not good - RDR is just better.

I know, I know, vs thread, but trust me I actually have a point to this one. I suspect the voting will go a certain way and after a while I'll add to this post detailing my actual reason for asking this question and a little rant to go with it. Please post your reason why you voted the way you did as well, as I suspect it will help with what I tentatively call my research.

Alright, let's try this again.

Also captcha had rewrote in it, haha.
I don't appreciate this little game you're playing despite me voting (RDR). I feel you didn't like RDR and will later explain why GTA4 is better and why RDR is overrated, etc. and how we as gamers are just "insert term here". However, the answer is simple. Red Dead is just a better game that is far more enjoyable. The point of games are fun and Red Dead is just more fun.

This is a tough choice. I very much enjoyed the DLC packs for GTA 4 but I got bored of undead nightmare pretty fast. However I really enjoyed the look and story of RDR.

Both great games, but I'll choose RDR, since GTA Doesn't have Undead Nightmare.

GTA is the biggest pile of turd ever to come from rockstar. It has little in the way of story and gameplay, the characters are fun and there are fun bits but the missions are so dull. "Walk here, shoot this, run away," Red deads GP is like that but the story and characters are actually interesting and there's a sense of purpose to all the missions.

I've tried a few times to complete GTA4, but after a short while, I just realise I'm not having any fun. Shooting bad-guys in apartments is not fun, following bad guys is definitely not fun, going out with friends is not fun. So what's left?

In Red Dead Redemption however shooting bad-guys actually was fun (I'm not exactly sure why), and some of the mini-games were actually fun too. The random encounter things were usually interesting, and I actually cared about the characters in the plot. If it's not obvious, I went with Red Dead. To me it's simply more fun.

The world felt much more alive in RDR, and it was alot more fun than gta for a short time, but the multiplayer quickly got old and i found myself going back to GTA to play.

So i say GTA

Singleplayer? RDR by a LONGSHOT.

Multiplayer has to be GTA4, RDR multi is boring and an absolute mess whereas GTA4 is hilarious.
