It takes a while to get used to the steering for me but I got real good and driving and flying helicopters XD

In multiplayer I was always the chopper guy.
Hehe, try playing it again for the first time in a year. "Ah, this will be easy, you never forget stuff like this. ...OH GOD! *Crashing through everything that can move*" XD And I'm good at flying the helicopters. I'm flying under bridges like a pro. XD

Plus it's always fun to get into the attack chopper on top of Algonquin's police station then introducing the cops there to the rotor blades... XD

I liked it, and wasted many many hours with it. It was a good game, but San Andreas was splendid in my opinion. My only two complaints with GTA IV were:
-What to do with all your money? Seriously? Visit a gun shop or one of the three different clothing stores?
-The friends constantly buggered you, and you were penalized if you didn't go bowling.

I played it for over six hours, but got pretty bored a while in.
The constant phone calls and the awful handling on the vehicles made it unplayable for me. I'll probably give it a new chance someday though.

Yeah, and I thought it was awesome. Easily better than San Andreas in my eyes.

Unfortunately, all the 10s it received massively over-hyped a game that was already hyped like mad. So what we're seeing is pretty much consumer backlash.

Still, it's far better than SR2 in my eyes, and that was also really good.

Played it and loved it, though I couldn't finish it on the PC, got to the final mission but flying the helicopter is a nightmare so I had to give up and just youtubed the last cinematic.
GTA4 honestly got me back into liking the GTA series, I really couldn't get into the GTA games after 3, vice city, andreas etc, I'd play for a few hours and get tired of the repetition. GTA4 brought it all back and gave enough humor and a decent enough variety of missions to keep me hooked until the end.

I've played it and I love it, the thing is I have heard it compared to saints row 2 a lot but I just couldn't get into that game the same way I got into GTA4

I got maybe six or so hours in and then I started playing other games. I do plan on finishing the game though.

It is the first and only game in my Steam library to have over 100 hours of playtime and I've played through the campaign twice. I didn't enjoy it as much as other sandboxes, so I have no idea why I have played it so much. I guess it's because the online free mode is quite fun - it is the default LAN game I play with my friends when thy come over.

I played all the way through GTA IV and the expansions, although I mixed it up with other games along the way like I did the other GTA games.

I also played Saints Row 2 but I never enjoyed it quite as much. Controls were completely butchered and it was a bit too cartoony a sandbox for me. Same thing with Just Cause 2, although I found that to be more gripping than SR2.

...Are you sure you don't live in England? As me and my pal used to do the exact same thing when we used to play it together. We used to give points if you managed to kill something with the rocket launcher while you were falling to. XD

I did manage to beat it, only cheated after having to restart that steaming pile of shit that was the last mission 15 times.

XD Only if you played on Xbox LIVE.

Now though I play offline in the swing set of doom, sending cars flying with it.

I've never really been too much into the series. The only one I own is Vice City, which I played for a bit and then my file got corrupted so I had to start from scratch. Since then the only reason I play it is to have a little bit of fun in a sandbox world.

Other than that, I've had absolutely no interest in the series.

It was pretty good, but it should have been a lot better. I know Yahtzee said this before but it took the sandbox-anarchic-fun, that was so great about the series, and replaced it with gritty realism. For example, in older GTA games, there was a flaw in the physics engine where you could stand on top of a car, and as it started moving, you wouldn't fall off but stand there as if you were on steady ground. In Saint's Row 2, they turned that into a little mini-game, where you had to balance yourself in order to stay on the car for as long as possible. In GTA 4, if you stood on a car you would fall off as soon as it started moving. Having said that, I have played through GTA 4 about 20 times, possibly because of the great characters and writing.
