Im posting this because 1) i dont know if anyone else has done one yet, and its just easier to post one rather than go through all the pages looking for it. and 2) i despise world tour with a passion.

I dont hate guitar hero in general. in fact i loved 1,2, rock the 80's, 3, and arrow smith. they were awesome! but then this piece of garbage comes out claiming to be in the guitar hero lineage.

The thing about guitar hero was not to get 3 or 4 people together and play. its meant for one or two people at most. the whole point of guitar hero was to focus on the guitarist or bassist. so wtf is there a drummer and a singer for? the fact that they ripped of rock band matters not to me. if people didnt rip other people off in this world there would be no decent competition

"But they didnt rip them off. they have a new guitar, different mic, and there are symbols on the drum set." ooooooo. such a difference. By calling it guitar hero, they are lying to my face, and i hate being lied to. especially by inanimate objects. cause now no one cares about the damn guitar, its all about the band. if they can rip off the equipment, why cant they call it band hero? cause thats what it really is.

so to the people who made guitar hero world tour, i hope you die long painful sorrowful deaths for disappointing me and any one else who has a brain to realize that GHWT is a bunch of garbage.

What's up with the poll options? In fact, what's up with you? This is an improvement and you hate it because it goes against the name? Well whatever. I like it and if you hate then you can just stick with the originals.

do you have any idea how stupid you look? i mean really assuming that the only way that people can like a game that you don't is if they are fanboys or are stupid? and if you don't like it don't get it and you do realize that the same people made GH:WT and GH:3 right and the reason that they added the other instruments is because the only people that would have brought yet another guitar hero 1 clone would be the few hundred ignorant jackasses like you around the world and at least they are still pimping the new guitar and also do you really think that it would be better if they took away something from the game? if you don't want to play the drums then don't just get the guitar pack

Maybe you should make poll options that are fair instead of makin stupid ones that either agree with you or make the person look like a jackass

Your poll is incredibly biased. Mods don't really like one-sided polls, so please change the options so that they're actually fair. Welcome to the Escapist, enjoy your stay here.

This isn't even a review. If you want to play without other players then do single player mode.

i have both GH:WT and rock band; and as a game on it's own GH is superior but this type of game is meant to be played with friends. and on that basis it comes down purely to the games soundtrack; of which, rock band is better by miles.

What do you want me to say? I won't vote because of your incredibly biased options, but I will say the following:

I didn't like GH:WT either. Reasons why are:
1. Poor setlist.
2. Poor guitar
3. Drumset broke after three days
4. I found it to have a slightly strange timing. I tried to calibrate, but it was still fucked.
5. I don't like Red Octane/Activision after they tainted the GH franchise with GH3.

I have the other Guitar Hero's aswell as 4 and I have to say I prefer the older games simply because they had better songs - when I first started playing I thought "uh-ho, looks like they've run out of cool tracks to licence" but then I had a look on the download content and they're some great tracks - so now I just feel like I'm being bilked £140 for the game only to have to fork out £20 to £30 for some decent tracks for it.

Rock band on the other hand that I picked up has far better track selection by default - and far more (and cheaper) download content. Peeved though as I have it on the PS3 the drums aren't compatible, they've made the Guitar Hero drums compatible with Rock Band 2 (not available in the UK, i think, but that's no the main point) but not with the original.

They've taken some really fun games which have made the creators a ton of money and now turning the wringer to try and squeeze as much cash out of the franchise as they can - which has the current music industry all over it, let's not care about music having a meaning or soul anymore, let's just try and take everyone for as much money as possible in the shallowest most egregious manner possible.

Still, saying all that, I'll probably end up buying the Metallica version - I hate how I bend to the marketeers shill sometimes :(

The only thing that irritates me about GH:WT is that I only really want to play the Tool songs (I only rented the disc), but you have to earn $8,000 first. Just gimme a big dose of Tool, dammit!

While I could just say "of course you're wrong, because you're a retard" I'll instead actually give you a proper response. Although honestly the argument you make doesn't really warrant one. I mean, you're probably just trolling and I shouldn't bite, but this one is so easy to rebutt that I just can't help myself.

So basically your beef is that you now have 4 times as many options about how to play and you hate that. First up, that's fucking stupid. It's not like adding drums, vocalist and a bass career mode actually detracts from the guitar at all, so if you hate them so much, don't fucking play them. In fact, don't fucking BUY them, just get a guitar and stick to that. No-one's forcing you to buy drums and a mike for the guitar to work, so if you're a tone-deaf noise polluter who couldn't sing at gunpoint or an uncoordinated retard who can't swing at the drums without missing, feel free to stick to what you're good at (or slightly less crap at).

Secondly, you say it's not about people getting together to play. Spoken with the conviction of someone without a single friend. The community aspect of both the earlier Guitar Hero games and Rock Band was a big part of their success as they were great social/party games. Even Yahtzee, who makes a big deal out of being a "friendless misanthrope", went on at length about how much fun the games are to play with friends. So since you obviously didn't even have the VAGUEST clue what the hell you were talking about when you said this, let's just ignore it and move on.

Finally, you say it's ripping off Rock Band. I know this didn't bother you, and you actually named the correct reason why it shouldn't (otherwise Rock Band would have rolled right over it) but this only highlights how stupid your whole argument is- you realize they have to rip-off Rock Band to remain competative, yet get pissed off when they do. And so you suggest renaming the series just to preserve the literal accuracy of the title. If Activision tried to make an all-new music game with the new instruments, it wouldn't get the brand association with Guitar Hero and would really be seen as nothing more than a Rock Band rip-off, while by releasing World Tour they're reminding people that Rock Band came AFTER Guitar Hero. And as for changing the name to "Band Hero", well I could go on at length about the number of syllables in each world and how it doesn't roll off the tongue as well, but I think I'll just stick to "don't be fucking stupid, it sucks".

Before I finish up, I WOULD like to add that I'm massively disappointed with World Tour. The song list isn't terrible as such, but I have very little compulsion to actually play it since with the new career mode all songs are unlocked in quickplay from the start. Furthermore, having beaten Guitar Hero II and all career mode songs except Cliffs of Dover and Raining Blood in Guitar Hero III on expert, there's not much challenge left in the game. I know Guitar Hero III was considered "too hard" by a lot of people, but World Tour is comparatively more like a throwback to GH1 in difficulty- it's just too damn easy. Additionally, there just aren't any songs that keep pulling me back to play the game again- even now I still pick up my old PS2 guitar to rip into F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X, Take This Life, Collide, Trippin' On A Hole In A Paper Heart, Stricken, Knights Of Cydonia or Freya, but there just aren't enough songs that I REALLY enjoy in World Tour. Plus the fact that Rock Band's song list is SO much better but the Wii instruments are not compatible really pisses me off. So anyway, I'm not just defending World Tour out of fanboyism, I'm very disappointed in it too. It's just that your comments are moronic.

So, having smacked down every stupid claim you made, I will choose the invisible option on this poll- "no, because the OP is an idiot. And probably a troll. With bad hygiene."

Guitar Hero: Fletcher?

World Tour was a boring game. The music was lacklustre for the most part and the note placement was terrible. Same thing happened to GH3, they put the Tony Hawk team onto it and they missed the point entirely. Because of this, the few good songs on WT are boring and painful to play. I was looking forward to the Tool tracks with their faggy, pretentious artwork instead of stages, but I found my hands cramping up and my mind wanting to be any place that wasn't in my skull at that moment. This coming from a guy who can power through all but the stupidly insane metal songs on Expert in Rock Band. Then we've got the instruments. Fortunately, I got the Rock Band instruments, so have never had a problem, aside from getting used to the new guitar. However, I did get an additional GH:WT guitar, because it looks awesome. I've already cashed in the warranty on the thing. Then there's the dear friends of mine who bought the WT pack. The drum kit lasted 6 songs before explodernatoring and having to be returned.

I have a copy of World Tour that's gathering dust. I keep meaning to play through it for achievements sake, but even my achievement OCD is overpowered by every other part of my brain whenever I consider sticking it in.
