If you have the choice in a game, do you go in there swing your crowbar, slashing with your knife and smashing with your pipe. Or do hide behind cover only popping out to let off a round gun fire?

Yeah, it really depends. You don't bring a knife to a gun fight (unless you're a ninja), and you don't shoot at anything that deflects or eats bullets like superman.
If it's going head to head with a live opponent, it depends on where their weakness lies. Blades or 'nades, doesn't matter to me as long as the fight is fair.

After Fallout 3 I'm going to have to say ranged, lazer rifles are too amazing.
Although I usually prefer swords and the like to any pistol or machine gun.

Whatever is on hand after I have debuffed everyone to the dark ages.

I die very often trying to knife everything in my way, even if i am alone ond the enemys are 2,10 or 25 with mgs or rifles^^

Personally? Guns are too loud and leave bullet wounds to explain later. I prefer to lure people away from the crowd and dispose of them quietly, whether that's by a melee weapon (such as my lead pipe <3) or just throwing them off the side of a building. Currently playing GTA:IV, my current favourite strategy is to hit them, run up some stairs, turn and push them down as they reach the top.
I got my first pistol this way, I pushed a guy who was shooting at me down the stairs. He hit the bottom and didn't get up
im more of a melee person, i believe its honorable to fight man to man and with man on man = melee but if many opponents i believe u should use bows and arrows and throwing knives.
