Yeah I don't much like the mod, mainly because I don't think I would have fun with it. One of the main things to remember though is that you don't have to play it. There are lots of games and movies that people get mad over, but this is a game mod. Fan created content and therefore not really part of the main industry. Also the moment anyone complains that they don't want their kids seeing this sort of thing in their game, then it is time to yell at the parents for letting the kid get M rated games without parental supervision. Those parental locks on computers are there for a reason and if they are too lazy to block this stuff so their kids can't get to it, then it is their own fault. Besides, this is just a game. The only way it will hurt someone and make them go crazy is because they are already sick in the head, and therefore should not be playing violent video games in the first place. Like, I play Postal 2 all the time and I don't think walking around a town and killing everyone I see just because I feel like it is any worse than this game. Mainly because this is a game and NOT REAL. You don't like it? Fine, don't play it. I don't like teen pop music or certain kinds of adult X rated videos, but rather than complain about them, I just don't listen or view them. Remember, by making these things controversial in media and talking about them will spread the word about it and expose more people to it. This is what they want as it is a very successful form of marketing. If this game really is so bad and you want it to just go away, then never tell anyone about it. A hated controversial game is like a controlled fire. Keep poking at it and making a big deal about it, and it will grow strong. Ignore it and stop giving it fuel and it will die. The reason I am saying this instead of ignoring it is because I don't care one way or the other. Even if most people don't like it, these people are making a game mod and people should fully have the option to play and try it if they feel like it. We don't want censorship in what we can have in games, remember? Either all subjects are ok to put in a game and you just need to learn to pick and choose what YOU want without making a big deal about it like a Mature person, which is who the M rated games are really for, or no subjects are ok to put in games and we have to go back to..well..nothing. This is because even competition is controversial to some people and they get offended over it, and even player vs computer games like in Tetris are competitive games. It is fine to say "I don't like this game because.." but it is not ok to say "You should not like this game because.." This mod has as much right to be here as any other game ever made. Oh and people saying the victims of school shootings would get offended so it should not be around, well grow up. I know that is kinda harsh to say but come on. What do you think about WW2 survivors? We make light of their tragic times of mass violence and carnage with video games too. So just because you don't like a game does not mean it should be censored or removed no matter who it offends. Be mature about what you play and just don't play this game, but let everyone else make their own choices about it. And you know what? I am going to tell my friends about this mod and let them come to their own conclusions about it, but I will make sure to tell them one simple thing. Until you play or do some unbiased research into how the game actually plays, who are you to judge it? Get the info yourself before making a decision. For example, I love Superman for the N64 and it is one of my favorite games. Lots of people talk about how much they hate this game, including some of my local friends. Then I asked them if they ever even tried the game or knew anything about it aside from "I hate it because X person told me to hate it." So play the HL2 mod and form your own opinion about it before judging it, or don't play it at all and be quiet because you have no idea how the game actually works.
