It's a game modification - I see no issue with it. However, I do acknowledge that the anti-video game zealots will have a freaking field day with it, but then again, they do with just about everything. I'm not one for giving them for ammunition for their "cause", but me personally, I see nothing wrong with the game mod. It will always be a game, and therefore, it will never be real.

Although I hate society and all..this game is just stupid..it goes against all the things the guys from Extra Credits fight for..with stuff like this and EA marketing, the gaming industry will never be seen as a respectable media..or games as a form of art for that matter..if it were to be a movie about this..it would be just fine..it would be a bad movie but nobody will give a crap about it..in my opinion its time to stand our ground as a community and demand a better quality from our games..a new level of refinement..we need to make it clear to checkborarded studios that we don`t want their "game"(piece of *^*^$#^%##^)and tell them to go and read a good book..but reading a good book isn`t enough, now is it?after reading a good book Dante`s inferno came out..as a flaming bag of poop on cultures door step.i`d better stop my rant here before i start a crusade against bad games...i mean bad developers..its not the games fault its retarded..it is the makers fault..but we as a community should have the power to influence the future of the community, because its as they say..the customer is always right..as 3dog said fight the good fight guys..make the gaming world a better place..

Ehh...

I don't particularly care about the game per se. They can make what they like.

I'm a little concerned about the controversy it will stir up. But controversies rarely last longer then a week or so, until the next sex scandal or celebrity drug overdose. This mod isn't exactly going to crush the industry.

Yeah I don't much like the mod, mainly because I don't think I would have fun with it. One of the main things to remember though is that you don't have to play it. There are lots of games and movies that people get mad over, but this is a game mod. Fan created content and therefore not really part of the main industry. Also the moment anyone complains that they don't want their kids seeing this sort of thing in their game, then it is time to yell at the parents for letting the kid get M rated games without parental supervision. Those parental locks on computers are there for a reason and if they are too lazy to block this stuff so their kids can't get to it, then it is their own fault. Besides, this is just a game. The only way it will hurt someone and make them go crazy is because they are already sick in the head, and therefore should not be playing violent video games in the first place. Like, I play Postal 2 all the time and I don't think walking around a town and killing everyone I see just because I feel like it is any worse than this game. Mainly because this is a game and NOT REAL. You don't like it? Fine, don't play it. I don't like teen pop music or certain kinds of adult X rated videos, but rather than complain about them, I just don't listen or view them. Remember, by making these things controversial in media and talking about them will spread the word about it and expose more people to it. This is what they want as it is a very successful form of marketing. If this game really is so bad and you want it to just go away, then never tell anyone about it. A hated controversial game is like a controlled fire. Keep poking at it and making a big deal about it, and it will grow strong. Ignore it and stop giving it fuel and it will die. The reason I am saying this instead of ignoring it is because I don't care one way or the other. Even if most people don't like it, these people are making a game mod and people should fully have the option to play and try it if they feel like it. We don't want censorship in what we can have in games, remember? Either all subjects are ok to put in a game and you just need to learn to pick and choose what YOU want without making a big deal about it like a Mature person, which is who the M rated games are really for, or no subjects are ok to put in games and we have to go back to..well..nothing. This is because even competition is controversial to some people and they get offended over it, and even player vs computer games like in Tetris are competitive games. It is fine to say "I don't like this game because.." but it is not ok to say "You should not like this game because.." This mod has as much right to be here as any other game ever made. Oh and people saying the victims of school shootings would get offended so it should not be around, well grow up. I know that is kinda harsh to say but come on. What do you think about WW2 survivors? We make light of their tragic times of mass violence and carnage with video games too. So just because you don't like a game does not mean it should be censored or removed no matter who it offends. Be mature about what you play and just don't play this game, but let everyone else make their own choices about it. And you know what? I am going to tell my friends about this mod and let them come to their own conclusions about it, but I will make sure to tell them one simple thing. Until you play or do some unbiased research into how the game actually plays, who are you to judge it? Get the info yourself before making a decision. For example, I love Superman for the N64 and it is one of my favorite games. Lots of people talk about how much they hate this game, including some of my local friends. Then I asked them if they ever even tried the game or knew anything about it aside from "I hate it because X person told me to hate it." So play the HL2 mod and form your own opinion about it before judging it, or don't play it at all and be quiet because you have no idea how the game actually works.

Distasteful, vulgar, and mean spirited. The mod is a horrible little thing and the creator should be ashamed!

That said they still have the right to make the mod. It shows they're horrible people, but there's no law against that. People have the right to be wretched idiots, I don't like it, but they've that right.

I personally don't mind the game itself, even though it's in poor taste. What concerns me is how the public will handle this. If the media flipped a shit about the sex puns in Bulletstorm, what will they say about this? It looks bad on behalf of the gaming community. The developers in the interview and in the live video provided in the first post come across as immature douchebags. We don't need any more of this. Hell, The Schwarzenegger v. EMA verdict isn't even in yet. Like I said, even if we disown this thing and only a handful of people play it, we'll still look bad. THAT'S what I'm worried about.

EDIT: Forgot to add this. That said, they still have the right to make something like this, wheter we like it or not.

I wouldn't play it because I hate Half Life 2, but I think that the person who made it is entitled to have his message sent across.

Note on the poll: instead of having both an "I dislike it" option and an "I hate the idea option," it would've been good to replace one of them with "I hate the idea but it's their freedom of speech" because the first two I mentioned are essentially the same and there isn't really a choice that fully covers the last opinion I mentioned "(hate it but it's free speech.)" I'm not sure if it's possible to edit the poll now but that might get some more accurate results.

As for me personally, I think it's tasteless, unnecessary, celebrates terrorism, and will certainly hurt the gameplay industry. Not to mention the game-play sounds boring to me as well; granted I haven't read much about the mod but if the gist of it just is shooting unarmed civilians, where's the challenge? Maybe someone can enlighten me here. Anyways, with all that being said they still have every right to make the game since it's part of free speech.

This isn't really a new concept, you know. School shootings have been depicted in an interactive gaming medium before. Anyone else remember Pico's School, the controversial flash game on Newgrounds?

It's tasteless, and unnecessary, and it sounds like the creator is just making it for controversy's sake. However, I believe it's the guy's First Amendment right to make any type of mod he wants. I just hope the mainstream media doesn't blow this out of proportion if they catch wind of it...but I get the feeling they will.

Sounds boring. I doubt it will hurt the gaming industry.

They had a game where you could assassinate Kennedy. It wasn't a mod. It was just a game where you sat in some building with a sniper rifle and tried to repeat the killing in as exact detail as possible, or just shoot the driver and kill everyone.

There was that No Russian level. Just this year a bomb went off in one of the largest airports in Russia. I play No Russian without blinking, but that bomb going off made me cry. That shit was tragic, but I can still play No Russian without really caring.

There was also the supposed Columbine level made with Doom by the shooters. Games still going.

People may ***** about it, but I doubt anything will come of it. The idea that someone would make this mod sounds like the creator is just an attention whore.
