Bungie has standards? I thought the first game in the series was impressive, but the level design was lacking (yes, I know it was rushed). Aside from that, I only liked Reach, but the story was absolute bollocks. So, yeah, I don't think it will be hard to live up to or beat the standards set by previous games.

I like to think of Bungie as the indie developer trapped by the success of Halo. Yes they had to keep creating them but there was a creative team behind. Halo was great, you may say there wasn't that many changes from sequel to sequel, but how many games before Halo looked like halo. How many console shooters were fun before halo?
That being said. All 343 needs to do is not fuck it up. Halo doesn't play like Call of Duty, Gears of War, Battlefield or any of its contenders. Add to Halo Reach, fix some glitches. Maybe add so aspects. I would love it if both sides got a scarab, and the goal was to take out the enemies, but thats just a personal thing.
It might seem short sighted, but the fact is that when making a sequel to a trilogy - which for all intended purposes was done - it's always going to be plain bad or a letdown nonetheless.StBishop said:

Yeah,that's how I feel about all this,like it's just Microsoft milking the franchise like George Lucas does with Star Wars. No, though personally I don't care as I'm not disrespecting the franchise by buying it. Halo:CE was a great thing, the rest of the series had it's ups and downs but this? This is NOTHING but microsoft's attempt to bilk as many fans as they can. The Halo story is done, making a new one is just them wanting to add another ballroom to their golden money palace.

a plethora of people from Bungie left the studio so they could form 343 and handle future iterations of their former companies magnum opus...that gives me hope but until I see actual in game footage or some storyboards/cinematics im gonna be doubtful at best regarding Halo 4

What standards? Another shooter multiplayer that slaps in a half-ass "campaign" to charge 60 bucks? That doesn't sound too hard to live up to.
I'm not sure but I remember seeing team 343's logo in the opening of some recent halo games so I'm hoping bungie taught them everything they know.
It could as they don't pull some bullshit reset to zero where we are fighting the whole Covenant again. However if they go towards the direction I am hoping for they may actually reinvigorate the series with a renewed sense of mystery. At this point in the series everything is pretty much known and introducing new ideas like those in the latest book Cryptum would be the best way to go.

Anyway, when a game switches studios you know all pride has been lost. Halo has never pretended to be otherwise, but it is the point at which it stops being a serious game franchise and becomes a cash cow to be sold to the highest bidder.
It might be good, but it won't be Halo.
