I like all of the three games a lot incredibly enough, but I must say that we have had enough now.

GO AWAY HALO. SERIOUSLY.

Ok I confess I enjoyed Halo 1-3, they weren't the best games of all time, but I had fun while I was playing them. That said, each installment of the Halo franchise gets worse, and I'm afraid that with each consecutive release the franchise will become further and further removed from the Halo CE days of actually being afraid to fight elites and fleeing instead of slaying the flood.

Halo 3 was the end of it, lets move on and play something else lads.
I wholeheartedly agree. There should be fewer sequels in general.

I think a lot of people seem to confuse "popular" with "overhyped". The game was marketed more than most games were, sure, but as far as I'm aware, Bungie didn't break any promises with the game. Whether you liked the Campaign mode or not is up to you, but as far as I can see, Bungie delivered the goods. Now Halo 3 is not my favourite game on 360. It probably comes in around 6th or 7th, but going online, all one sees is bitching about it.
A thread was made on this forum asking what gaming series everyone would delete from gaming history. I wasn't actually surprised to see that Halo came out on top, because most people claimed that it had "destroyed the fps genre" and bred a wave of unoriginal Halo clones. However, if one gooes back to before Halo, you'll find that there was nothing particualrly special about those games. You had Unreal and Quake, two series that highly resemble each other anyway, Doom, and Goldeneye (plus many more, but these four are the main players) All I can see Halo is done is add new features (or perfect/refine) existing ones. Mellee attacks, vehicular combat and grenades worked better in Halo than any game I had played to date, and whilst its not my favourite game ever, I would say that a great disservice would have been done to games in general.

And if the game happens to break all sales records when it is released, then good for Microsoft, who cares? Only Sony.

(For a more relevant post to the topic of "Should there be a Halo 4, see post 17)
Good show, that man! I whole-heartedly agree with you!

Halo is overrated and I don't like it. If there is yet another sequel for little kids to freak out over, I swear I will go nuts.

Such anger in this thread, and more than a little ignorance.
I'm not sure how much ignorance there can be, as I haven't met many gamers that haven't played a game in the Halo series, and the anger that I think your detecting isn't at the game itself, all that is said is that Halo was a good series but now its time to put it to bed and see what else bungie can come up with.

Personally I'm really looking forward to Halo: Recon, mainly as I want to see how the devs are going to handle a player character that isn't a walking 7ft tank. Bungie took the FPS genre and put a spin on it that not only proved fun but also popular, so here is to hoping they can do the same again with their expansion in progress.

Unless there is some huge innovation in gameplay and storytelling (and they think of a more deep and emotional storyline), than NO!!! Also, why do people keep saying Halo 3 is a bigger letdown than Halo 2? Halo 3's campaign is average in the innovation factor, and can range from decent to mind-less BLOW UP everything in the fun factor. While Halo 2's campaign is shit more ways than one.
This. I would willingly advocate the continuation of any series AD INFINIUM if it could be proved that the game desginers could continuously innovate, improve, pioneer and evolve the games.

That's why I'm not so hot on another Master Chief shooty shooty FPS remake.

Recon, on the other hand, has my hopeful green light.

This seems a little short sighted. As much as I like the Halo series, I'm willing to admit that Microsoft will use it again and again until no more money is spilling out of it. There will be money in a Halo 4, so you'd better believe there will be one, Bungie or no Bunngie. Personally, I would prefer the latter. New team, new ideas etc. Worked for Tomb Raider going to Eidos.

Yeah, people are mad at the people who are having so much more fun with Halo than them. Maybe because a significant number of them are idiotic fanboys.

The ignorance I observed was in regards to future speculation, for example Bungie has not said that Halo 3 is their last Halo game (Recon already prooves that wrong) they only said that it is the last game in the "story ark." The story ark being the struggle to stop the Flood from infesting the galaxy and prevent the Covenant from activating the Halo Array.

I'm a Halo fan myself. And the recon trailer PISSED ME OFF.

Look's like Bungie will do anything for money, even destroy their games by rambling it on...

I'll be more specific. It was the first game not to be handled by Core and instead by Crystal Dynamics (with Eido publishing), e.g Tomb Raider Legend and onwards which I find, and many people find, to be far superior to the dried up husks which were Last Revelation, Angel of Darkness, and Chronicles. With this in mind, a change of hands at Halo 4 would be welcome in my eyes.
