Fun with friends for me. you can lots of crazy shit with your friends that online people will just ruin.

for example, playing a game mode where everyone only has a rocket launcher, and there are 2 banshees on the map.

or piling up all the vehicles (except ghosts) then use the ghosts to drive over them and do flips and shit... then blow up the pile as someone jumps over to try and throw them higher.

I wish Halo would be the template for multiplayer shooters instead of COD.

Guns that are actually different instead of just different rates of fire/damage. No silly iron sights taking up 1/3 of the screen.

Wouldn't that, taken to its logical extreme, pretty much result in Quake 3? I mean the whole fast paced, quite bouncy, wide variety of guns....

Not that I'm complaining, Quake 3 was an amazing multiplayer game.

I think the game play is OK, but not spectacular. It's really stupid in Halo 3 how you have to pay for the maps to play most of the online game modes.
Without the numerous match types, it gets old pretty fast, but I'm still getting reach anyway. It might change my mind.

Let's avoid comments that will start flame wars, shall we?

OT: I play the multiplayer occasionally, but I definitely could live without it. I mostly just got the game because everyone else was and I didn't want to be left alone.

[sub] Like usual. [/sub]

I dot in and out and after quitting warcraft for the cost of enjoying console games more, I feel really relieved in that I can dot in and out of a game without having to stay and not be penalised by my guild etc etc. I love the classes and that each one has a unique skill, the covenant not so much but with their stealthing ability they gain different weapon types such as heavy, snipers, melee and of course their rapid vehicles, in invasion. The game is very balanced camping in most cases is null and void, you can to our teams dismay corpse camp in haemorrhage invasion but with an organised team you can halt it. (they literally had 2 scorpions locked on our side, it was frustrating.) I always found Halo the better online fps tbh so I am slightly biased. As another person said prior the chat is very quiet, I think its due to people testing the water as it is quite different to prior halo's.

In comparison the following day I went on Cod. (It was my first ever time.) and boy that game is just rigged, I wanted to see the difference so I played on my brother's one and I can say after 5 games, which is how many a day I play my experience with Halo was much more fulfilling, I am interested if the balanced gameplay will spread and cod defectors will go to reach instead. I would love to see the numbers.

I've had some of my best game experiences playing halo's online multiplayer. The ingenuity behind some of teh game types and map designs really impressed me. And, though you have to deal with alot of immature assholes, you do get the occasional player made of awesome.

And modern warfare 2 was was a amazing re-invention of the FPS genre and was incredibly well balanced /sarcasm.

MW2 is just MW1.....with nothing new.
I never said i liked MW2 at all. I prefer counter strike, extremely balanced

Because I figured most people with common sense who don't like it, accept it's not shit, but in fact just pretty 'average and overrated'. It's pretty solid, polished and with an active online community... I can't imagine someone genuinely arguing that it's "shit".
That's a subjective POV and cannot be defended without opinion. the word shit might have been too harsh i just mean that to me it's not my thing. We all have all can have out opinions on it.

Halo: Reach was meant to be like a band's "Greatest Hits" album, besides, i like the firefight mode and the customization they put into it (like Forge World... best. FPS thing. EVER!)

I spent a lot of time with Halo 3's multiplayer. Reach is Halo 3, but better. Loadouts give a small amount of customisation without sacrificing the control of power weapons on a map, aesthetics customisation is fairly deep, there's better bells and whistles in the friends list, there's firefight, there's a better forge and a healthy helping of interesting other things. It's a refinement, and to be honest that's al I wanted from the multiplayer.

I love it, I always have since Halo 2. Largely this was due to being given the option to play as an Elite over Spartans thus giving me my own sense of identity that is lacked in other shooters out there, plus it's good to people who don't have Xbox Live and since for the longest time I lacked such capabilities this was a godsend because here was a game that had local multiplayer that I could play with friends.

Plus the custom made modes are a blast to fiddle with and especially with forge made maps and in Reach some of the gametypes are just crazy inventive fun, seriously.

So yeah, for what it's worth, I certainly like Halo multiplayer.

Halo has the best multiplayer game I have played, and Reach is an improvement over Halo 3, so I guess that makes Reach my favorite.

That's my point, to genuinely think it's 'shit' is just wrong, opinion or not. And like you said, you didn't think that, you just don't see it as your thing and chose to exaggerate... For whatever reason.

Here's my thing, and I'm not sure which camp this puts me in, but...

I see online multiplayer as something akin to one of the Alighierian levels of hell, in which the damned are doomed to repeat the same meaningless task over and over, accomplishing nothing, as punishment for their sins in life.

With rare exceptions (Rock Band, LittleBigPlanet) I've never played an online multiplayer that didn't make me feel like I was being punished for something.

One minute you're racing Mongooses (Mongeese?) around a massive field collecting flags and dodging the gunfire of the guy who fell off his ride...

..the next you're running around after flaming skulls frantically trying to get back to the checkpoint...

...the next you're the last man standing against a whole team of zombies...

...the next you're firing your Warthog through the aweseome grav lift jump you built with your buddies and watching it teleport into a cliff face and explode...

...yeah, safe to say I think it's pretty awesome.

What he said.

But if I didn't have my buddies to play with, it probably would be a lot less fun. I'm not crazy about the random matches with random people.

I need at least one person to laugh with me about the fact that I just killed myself with a grenade. It helps soften the blow of everyone else laughing at me.

I hear you. Even if there is one friendly random who chats and laughs with you... it stops you getting competitive and frustrated.

I'll be online later! :D
