Why is this even a competition? Hal ois an overhyped console game. Half lfie is so well polished you can do your hair on the reflections form the box.

Halo for me, but I honestly don't see why it must be such a civil war.
Can't we just like both?
No! Such an idea is preposterous and blasphemy! Loving these games with equal measure is clearly sacrilege!

Now choose or die

Half-Life.

A little bonus for me, my last name is Freeman. ;)
Heh heh, my first name means "Free Man" in German.

Frank The Freeman!

Oh, and, Half-Life all the way.

Look at my avatar and tell me what to think.

That's right. Halo. Half life. I love Half Life. Almost as much as nuclear physics.

This thread is an insult to Half Life. Halo should not be uttered in the same sentence as Hl.

Halo is an ok game in its own rite, but Half Life changed the world of FPS.

Now i have been having a problem, loads of people who have 360's (not myself) have said that 360 graphics are better than pc graphics, cus 360 have hd and somehow that makes half life worse than halo...i dono it was a very flawed argument but seriously, half life looks WAY better on pc than on 360, and also Half life is amazing,

Halo is fun with loads of friends when doing stupid stuff, but campaign seems a bit repetitive to me...

Well, I think it's mostly because of, indeed, realism. No matter how weird this next declaration will sound, I believe that it's more likely for one to relate to Gordon Freeman than it is to John lastname-withheld-for-legal-reasons-but-known-by-the-staff.
Even if that John has more speaking lines than that Gordon and that Gordon has more degrees in science than you can shake a stick at.

I thought that Halo 1 was the bomb, Halo 2 went downhill for me. Especially the ending.
Even now, years later, I can still get angry over that. "Finish the fight!" What the hell?
We completely missed out on New Mombasa!

Half life for more because out of the two Half life didn't completely bore me with repetetive gameplay. Also, half life has a much stronger story and better AI.

Most of this is explained in either Half Life 1, its expansions or in Half Life 2. Except for the g-man but he's supposed to be mysterious. He also appears in the game several times as a sort of easter egg.

The Halo books are nice, but since the whole story of Half-Life began with the first game, the black mesa incident, there is no need for that much backstory. In fact it would be hard to make any, since you witness the events of Half Life from 3 different perspectives. (Gordon Freeman obviously, the Barney Calhoun in Blue Shift, and finally a soldier tasked with cleaning up the Black Mesa mess in the Opposing Force expansion)

Going by that logic, Halo didn't really explain much about the rings either. All we know is that they were built by some "forerunner" and they kill stuff if activated.
Hmmm, I don't remember the Combine being revealed in half Life or it's two expansions but it has been a while since I played them. There was those black ops guys but I thought they belonged to the military.

It isn't necessarily the backstory that irks me when it comes to Half-Life series but more of a lack of explanation on the main story. I'm fine with some things being left up to speculation by the responder but somethings need to be explained. For me, the Combine and what happened on Earth need to explained in the game.

The Forerunners are something I feel don't need to be explained because you don't come into contact with them (unless you count 343 guilty spark as a forerunner). You learn a little bit more about the rings throughout the first game although you have to pay attention to what Guilty Spark is saying during 'The Library', pretty hard with the zombies.

You're so very wrong there. I truely enjoy the Halo universe. I have all the games, and i've read the Fall of Reach book.
Fair enough then, my bad. Sorry about that.
