Once Reach is out they should stop with Halo FPS's, simply because there is only so much that can be done before it gets stale. For me, that was ODST, but they seem to have held no stops for Reach so I may be pleasantly surprised.

I don't think they should end Halo as a franchise though, it has a lot of potential for other genres. It could make an excellent PC strategy game, as well as a fairly decent RPG.

EDIT: It's also a bad idea having your poll ask the question the other way around from the title. For the title answering 'no' means they should carry on, but for the poll it means they shouldn't.

I voted 'no' in answer to the title of the thread.

Bungie have quit while they're ahead. Reach is their last Halo game, for presumably at least the next ten years. As for Microsoft, they will roably milk the series as long as it is profitable to do so. (See: Activision and Call of Duty)

Personally, I don't care. As long as the games are good, I'll buy them. If not, I won't.

I still don't see why it matters to people. As long as fans enjoy a series its fine right? Otherwise i'm going to start a poll called:

"Has final fantasy gone too far!"

I personally think number 2 was one too many (number one is always allowed because the first of a game is always allowed to show what a possible series feels like)

The FPS in General. Yes, that should end
However, the STORY is a whole different case. It has a LOT of Potential.

I thought that I heard Microsoft was creating a studio to create Halo. 343 Entertainment I think it was or something to that effect. I feel that they should stop and this coming from a big fan that even enjoyed ODST.

Actually, yeah. I agree that branching from FPS would help Halo series a lot. Maybe a story, possibly RPG, with a marine (not an ODST) as a hero would be good

I think they should stop cloning the previous versions so much. Halo 3, ODST (which I still think is some behavior disorder. Imagine Halo ADHD) and reach ALL are you being the sole guy with the smarts to take down hordes of elites, grunts and brutes. All of them have the similar shields system, all of them have virtually the same weapons. There is very little beside what your are and where you are that define the games. Can't say much for reach but I've not heard anything to the contrary.

If Bungie sat down and thought about it, they could bring in something that was actually new to the series it would be a lot better (whether that be a different FPS or a entirely new genre. I'm not sure if bungie will do that or just continue milking fanboys.

I want Halo to continue because if it was to end with halo 3 and ODST it would be such a dissapointment for anyone who loved the first two games. I hope Reach is an amzing game and would like to see games that went further into the expansive world of halo maybe a mass effect style rpg in first person with emphasise on planet exploration maybe locating other spartans. Or how about given us a character with a solid background, somenone we could connect with. Anything would be an Improvement on ODST as it brought nothing really new to the series.

Exactly.

I have to say that I'm glad Bungie are moving away from the universe for a while but I don't see any reason why Halo games can't still be made, none of them have been that bad so far and it's a universe that's got a lot of room for expansion. The series will die when it's ready.

I don't know how anyone can bring this up when Sonic has a story which sees him in an Arthurian tale.

First I would like to ask, why constantly Halo is targetted by the gaming community as being a "milked" franchise, "too many games", "cash cow" so regularly, when including Reach there's only 6 titles, which is small compared to Call of Duty's 9 titles (10 when you include black ops), or Mario's hundreds, or Final Fantasy's 13 main series titles, plus the many many spin offs.
I think that's kind of a double standard.

In regards to this thread though, I do agree that Halo should be brought to an end after Reach. As much as I enjoy the Halo series (even Wars somewhat), I think they've reached the point where they can't add much more to the series. I think it would be good to end the series while it's ahead, rather than dragging it out.

Though I've noticed a few comments suggesting a Halo RPG, that could be interesting.

If Bungie stick to their comments saying Reach is the last Halo game anyway then this wont even be an issue.

Yes. It can only be a "final" fantasy so many times.

OT: I enjoyed the multiplayer for Halo during its time, but I got bored and moved on. The single player stuff is alright but there are plenty of other games I would rather play instead. The pure and simple fact is that there is only so much that can be done with a franchise like this. They are heading towards the sixth game (if you count ODST and Wars) and they haven't ever really changed the formula. You fight Covenant for a while then the flood come in. Then you fight he covenant some more before a final showdown with the covenant and the flood. They tried strategy but it is a well known fact that RTS games all inevitably fail on consoles.

I believe that Reach should be the end of the Halo series of games. Feel free to right more books, hell make the fuckin movie. The story is fine (not perfect but at least it makes the effort), its the gameplay that needs to be revitalised.

[HEADING=1]Attention Halo Fanboys[/HEADING] If you disagree with any of the points I have made feel free to send as much hate mail as you want I am going to delete it on sight. This is my OPINION. I enjoyed the halo games each time a new one came out, even if it was only for a short time. I think it is time this franchise is put to rest, and something new can come along.

I think the issue isn't "Is there too much Halo?" but rather "Is there too much Halo right now?" I think that if Bungie had the same release schedule as Blizzard or Square Enix then there wouldn't even be a problem. People would probably be much more exited to see a new halo property come out.

Right now it feels like Matrix: Revolutions, you know? Too early, too many sour tastes in one's mouth.

I think as popular the games have been so far, they should keep making them, if they add in different stuff every now and then, not the same sh*t like in the first three halo's.

Well, I'd at least want one of the new ones to be released on PC, then they can quit.

Halo 1 was an excellent game on the PC, and I suppose Halo 2 was pretty good too. But anything after those is too much.
