I say Microsoft should keep it going and the reason is, I sure wouldn't stop a franchise that has made millions and will continue to make millions. But if the game and story quality start to deteriorate then hopefully they'll end the franchise.

As for Bungie they have already answered that question.

I don't know, should Square quit Final Fantasy? Should Kojima Productions quit MGS? Should Infinity Ward and Treyarch quit Call of Duty?

Halo is fine as a series. It can keep going. God knows what 343 Industries will do to it through.

the trouble with this forum is that it seems to be filled with people who hate halo and probably won't even buy another game even if it did come out. If your not fans of the series then of course you would think that Bungie should stop. If people who like halo are happy with what they are getting, then I think Bungie should keep going as long as they want.

Anyone agree with me?

Halo should end after Reach. It seems bungie has relaised the error of their ways, they have strayed from the path, sold out, made shitty gameplay, and not tied up stories properly. It time to go back to basics, the halo we love, with a new face. After that... lets put send halo into its sweet sleep

Bungie announced that Reach would be their last Halo game last year.
But so far I don't think there has been too many Halos. I mean, when a series is sucessfull it is only natural that a couple of spin-offs occur.
God knows that cesspool that is today's Final Fantasy has gone for way longer that it should have than Halo.

Please take world situations into account before posting, you realise that Bungie have signed a deal with Activision, right?

I'm going to start a thread called "I'd like to start a flame war. Will you help me?"

OT: I wasn't a big fan of ODST, but if they're still selling, then continuing to make them would only be the most natural thing in the world.

People say that the Halo Franchise has been milked too much, but let's examine: The Call of Duty franchise produced 6 games in 7 years, and all of them were "realistic" FPSs. Halo will end up producing 6 games in 10 years, and one of those games was an RTS. Who's really played out?

No more FPS. They could dip there toes in the water of other genres. See how that turns out.

Yes. Bungie is smart to make this their last foray in the Halo franchise. MS, on the other hand, will milk this thing until it's a dry, brittle husk.

Final Fantasy has gone 13 games and they're still a massive franchise.

The halo series has a fantastic storyline and exciting gameplay, I don't see why they should stop. They're basically just doing what Star Wars has been doing, jumping around in time to better explain the storyline of the universe.

I still don't see why it matters to people. As long as fans enjoy a series its fine right? Otherwise i'm going to start a poll called:

"Has final fantasy gone too far!"
Yes. It can only be a "final" fantasy so many times.
^ Unaware of the history of the name.
If by that you mean the whole "It was going to be the last game made by Square, but turned out really successful" thing, then I am aware. But when there have been over 30 of these games, the term "final" becomes completely redundant.

So you understand why it was originally titled the way it was? Then stop taking apart the name and examining the word final by itself, because it is just pointless. It's the name of a series, in order for the series (especially one like final fantasy that has so very little similar storywise between each game)to remain continuous. Imagine of Final Fantasy 8 had been named Time skip instead of final fantasy. Most would just consider it a new IP)

Calm down dude. It was a joke. I understand all that, I am actually a pretty big fan of the series, I just find it funny, there is A LOT of FF games. I like that each is different. It was a joke. Not belittling the franchise, just making a joke. I cannot stress that enough.
