I still don't see why it matters to people. As long as fans enjoy a series its fine right? Otherwise i'm going to start a poll called:

"Has final fantasy gone too far!"
erm i think it has as its called final fantasy yet it clearly isnt due to constant sequels and other fantasy games.

TOPIC: Halo series going too far?
Poll: Should the Halo Series Continue?
Text: Should Bungie and Mircosoft quit while their ahead when Halo: Reach comes out?
These are all different questions that you ask which all have Yes/No/Don't Care as valid answers.

If you don't want to muddle your poll up the wazoo, keep your questions the same. This should be a lesson for all would-be pollsters out there.

OT: Meh. Some people will like it, don't care personally. Go right ahead with it, I don't have strong feelings about Halo.

I really dont want this series to become final fantasy.
As in... each game brings something new to the plate? With different settings, stories, characters, gameplay, RPG systems?

That would be nice within the Halo series I think.

(Please don't tell me your one of those people who think that the FF series is all one big continuing story? :p)

Reach is essentially the same formula as all the other Halo's: Jump, Shoot, Grenade, Melee. This formula is old and should have died with Halo 3. Reach is a game that should never have existed. Before you ask, YES I have played the beta for a considerable time and it bores me to tears.
if you take a moment to look, and feel it you will see it is completely different. it is not the same formula at all. it's what everyone has been after for ages, a halo game that feels and looks different, which is exactly what Reach is.

but i suppose every game has it's haters...

Personally, I don't care. As long as the games are good, I'll buy them. If not, I won't.
My thoughts precisely.

Also, in other news, "to" and "too" have been interchanged so much that we no longer use the latter term, it seems.

I meant that do you think they should stop, or should they forget their Activision agreement and continue
That's all
Oh, fair enough.

I think Activision will have them in such a watertight contract that even if they wanted to, they couldn't. Although I suspect that Bungie have been a bit sick of Halo since about half way through Halo 2's development and have continued past 3 mostly because they didn't know what to do next.

Now with the Activision deal it sounds like they have a plan that doesn't involve more Halo. Bungie are done with Halo, much like they finished with Marathon a decade ago.

I like the halo games a lot

I don't play the multiplayer much after release but I always enjoy the singleplayer in the Halo games. The co-op has always been brilliant fun too. I don't see why they shouldn't continue making Halo games.

And really why all the hate for ODST? I really liked that game, the story was good the experience was totally new and still felt like Halo. ODST to me was a great game and I'd happily play an ODST 2 if they were ever to do so.

The only thing I miss in Halo is the Master Chief himself. Reach will be the 3rd game in a row without him. I say say bring back John 117.

EDIT: And the whole Bungie situation does not mean there will never be another Bungie Halo, they have said themselves that after the 10 year deal with Activision they may well revisit Halo and even if they don't the rights to Halo are with Microsoft and the recently formed 343 industries may make the next Halo.

The FPS in General. Yes, that should end
However, the STORY is a whole different case. It has a LOT of Potential.
Actually, yeah. I agree that branching from FPS would help Halo series a lot. Maybe a story, possibly RPG, with a marine (not an ODST) as a hero would be good
honestly if you have read the books, they could easily easily easily set up a above average rpg with it, having you as a spartan recruit as a child, it would be cake and a halfway decent game i bet

Master chief, yes, for at least another game. Then then universe should be left to go where it wants, kind of how Mass Effect is planning to go after Mass Effect 3.

Meh. It died when Enix took over. So much. So yeah, it's too far now.

On topic: I really don't think they should make any more. 1 was really good, 2 was good, 3 was bad, and I haven't cared to play ODST.

I'm not a "Hater" as you put it, I will still buy and play this game, tell me how exactly is it different though? Sure they've changed the look of characters and weapons but in essence the gameplay still revolves around the exact same stuff (Jump, Shoot, Grenade, Melee) as every other Halo ever has.

Of course you could slap a 2D, 8bit game with the name Halo or Call of Duty and it will still sell so what do Bungie and Microsoft care?

I'm not saying this game is bad... I'm saying it is average, run of the mill. It's not worth the hype.

I think Bungie should attempt to prove that they can make a successful game that isn't based in the halo universe, maybe a reboot of marathon. but the sad thing is if it's not a halo game it probably wouldn't sell since much of the gaming market is people who only buy sequels.

doesn't every FPS game revolve around that? name me one FPS that doesn't and ill let you off. as far as i know Bungie is including a cover system, eventually, and they now have sprinting so it isn't just a simple jump shoot grenade melee as you put it, well, not any more anyway.

sorry it seems im having ago (which i get a lot...can't imagine why O.O) but im not, it's just in your first post you seemed to be in a raging fit over Reach and the Halo games. my bad =)

It now needs to end as soon as possible [in terms of games], and that means Reach. Following this, Halo should just die a dignified death. If it chooses not to, it'll be painful for everyone. Yes, there are series' that are longer, but they are fast losing their space in my good books.

All this from someone who enjoyed each Halo game he played, in its time.

UT3, No melee except with that bloody impact hammer - useless piece of shit - and fair sure there are no grenades (haven't played it in over a year I forget) which would make the formula: Jump, Shoot. Sounds simpler but I had more fun with UT3 than I ever have with Halo.

Also if you haven't noticed COD:MW2 is now all about who can camp the longest, I believe I'm off the hook as you put it.

Back OT though I think that Bungie will really need to think about some stuff in the reach beta (Like how I can't hold the ball and use my perks at the same time - I wanna jetpack away!) and while I can see it being a technically solid game, I think I am just (along with a lot of other people) all Halo'ed out.

I don't care until they start being released on PC. Until then, it won't affect me.
