It's an ok series, but I don't think it's a god send like all the fanboys seem to believe. The first one was the best the other 2 were meh, in my opinion. Halo3's multiplayer saved it for me, I didn't play Halo2 multi as I didn't have live then.

I miss a thrid option, namely: never got around to play it and now never will.

I was extremely exited when it was announced around 1999, but since then they churned the concept a bit and it became boring. Pity really, it had some many ideas which never became included.

They're not for me.

I played Halo 2 and realised I'd play games that were much better (and older) so I stopped. When I read reviews of the third game, there were quite a few that said something along the lines "it's exactly the same and it's brilliant" or something so I gave it a miss.

The first one was excellent, but the series didn't evolve properly for me to consider the others viable.

I thought the games were alright. No more, no less. I had fun playing them, but I didn't enjoy it as much as some other games I've played.

Those communities may be tighter, but what, 90% of people who own a 360 have Halo 3. No game on the PC has that kind of track record, except for maybe solitaire.
That's because you can get a pc for something other than gaming, not so much with a console (except the PS3 for blu-ray)
But to address the topic, they're good. First has the best story, other have better gameplay in my opinion. 3 was the weakest but still good.

I loved the first one, liked the second one, and couldn't stand the third one.
Haha so true. This should of been an option!

The first was always the best, it was new, exciting, the controls were great, co-op was hell of a lot of fun. But the third time round.. What do they expect? Some more money and a party for repeating the game twice more with some extra flashy features?

I wouldn't say I "love" Halo but I like it. It did what it wanted to quite well, that is to say, an epic tale of mankind's sturggle against a race of genocidal maniacs. A lot of people complain that the story is "generic", but I think there are enough twists and turns and notable pieces for me to say "Hey, this is Halo, it differs itself from x game in x way"

Also, the multiplayer in Halo 3 is very fun - just enough different wacky modes out there for me to have a good old time screwin' around online.

While the actual game isn't too bad, it always bugged me when people would say that Halo had one of the best game stories of its time. Anyone that tries to claim that is just... wrong.

Despite what many might say, Halo is a great FPS series. It revolutionized dual-analog control, and the story is a cut above many in the industry, especially if you dig into the novels.

Halo: Combat Evolved got me into shooter, all I would play before it were racing, RPG, platformers, and adventure games. I love the multi-player, but the campaign in Halo 2 and 3 were pretty boring to me.

Everything isn't black and white buddy, I like some things about the series, and really dislike others. So... It really isn't love or hate.

I loved the first Halo campaign and the Halo 2 campaign was really fun up until the appearance of the Brutes. Halo 3's campaign was the usual fare but it was still enjoyable (Scarab fights were the best).

As far as stories go, the Halo series was better than average considering the only story you really need in a shooter is a few bits of dialogue and exposition to connect the player from one firefight to the next.

CoD4 multiplayer is better.

Whats this? A Halo thread with almost no flaming and everyone conducting themselves in a civil manner and actually answering the original topic??? WTFBBQZOMGZGTFO!!1!1!!!shift+one!!1

OT: LOVED the first game, definitely the best in the series and it revolutionized console shooters. Second one-not as good of a single player but redeemed itself with it's incredibly fun multiplayer. Third-pretty much same as the second...couple of new bells and whistle but thats it.
