Welcome to the escapist, and I kind of agree. One can only see what happens next I guess.

Usually I take every chance I get to bash the Halo series, but thats just because of how over hyped it is. I will admit, they are good games. I enjoyed playing them. I just dont see what makes people go crazy over them. If there was a category on the poll for "Enjoyed it", thats what I would vote.

I found the whole thing to be incredibly boring and uncreative. I neither hate it nor love it I just had a hard time staying awake through the first one. My cousin's gleefully and ironically pointed out every flaw it had in multi-player.

Yeah!
Halo 2 and Halo 3 united the live community unlike any other game has ever and will ever do. Such a strong, unified community is what in part made the xbox so successful.
Don't you think your exaggerating a little bit? They were not that good. First one was okay for the time but after that it was just made for the fans. I don't even know why they even put a single player campaign in halo 3. the emphasis on multiplayer is so high that you could replace the single player campaign with a pile of shit and no one would know the difference.

Meh, never played them, but they don't sound all that great- sounds like every other shooter ever made. Might try the first one if I'm at someone's house, because people say it isn't bad.

Really, the only particular fondness I have for Halo is because of Red vs. Blue- which only borrows the graphics, anyway, so that really doesn't count.

The game series got steadily worse single player as the games went on and where is the kinda middle ground opinion because not everyone will love or hate the game.

That is a big statement and I have to disagree with you there as Quake and Cod series have much more tighter online communities especially with clans spanning whole series.
The xbox is a lot more successful because it is cheaper that is what really gave it's edge and a slightly bigger library of games not because of Halo there were much better exclusive games Microsoft could of picked to be it's flagship game.
Also why knowingly start a thread with such extreme options which is going to probably create a flame war.
Those communities may be tighter, but what, 90% of people who own a 360 have Halo 3. No game on the PC has that kind of track record, except for maybe solitaire.

Em I would like to see where would you get the numbers for this besides Gamestop gave away copies of Halo3 with xbox360s, besides that only a portion of that(the people who actually wanted the game) still play. If I wanted to go the whole WoW directions with games that have a similar track record on PC I could but just to give you a little bit of information and not to start a flame war as I'll be willing to end after you get your last 2 cents if you want after this comment. http://www.xfire.com/ .

If you go to that website you will see the most played games on it to let you know Halo 1 and 2 are available for the PC not that a lot would get it since they come out much later after console release even though it isn't that hard to port from xbox to PC.

COD4, COD WaW and COD2 are all in top ten in fairness Halo 1 being in top 30 at the moment I think(Halo2 in top 250) which is good but still nothing to particularly to go bragging about as standing as a series on the PC.

So while Halo may dominate 360 shooters to an extent(I know CODs are played a lot but I don't know how much in comparison so I am not going to comment on this) but compared to the PC world it just doesn't match up.

So yes while Halo 1 was great the others not so much but you like so shouldn't that be enough instead of having to make a thread about it fair enough you want to get opinions but Halo threads are never great idea.

So thats all I have to say on the matter.

Why? Why did you have to make this thread? You knew that it would become a flamewar.

Love it.

I'm not sure. I've only really played Halo 3, and most of the time I spent thinking "Uhh, wait. What the fuck is going on here? Who is this guy, and why am I killing him? Oh look, here's another dude that is shooting at me. I wonder what is his grudge."

I suppose reading up on/playing the previous games would've helped an awful lot in understanding what the hell I was doing. I spent a lot of time thinking this "Cortana" was some spooky ghost haunting Master Chief before I checked her up on Wikipedia.

As a game, though... not bad. Not the best ever, but not bad either. I'll give it a 7.5/10.

I loved the series like my baby. It's nostalgic, charming to me and just overall a game series I have a lot of fun happy memories with. I loved the story (especially the story) and atmosphere and I loved each game equally, this series was what made me realise I was a gamer. I feel anything I say here will just be repeating myself so I'll just say this:
In my eyes, Halo is amazing.
These are exactly my feelings on the Halo series, but I've only completed 2&3.
I liked the level design in Halo 2 more than Halo 3, but they were both still fun.

I don't love it, nor do I hate it. The Multiplayer is excellent but the Single-Player is mediocre...so in the end I'm pretty indifferent to the Halo universe.
