Halo:CE for campaign.

Halo 3 is better, even if the campaign is not as great.

For a first buy, I'd say ODST as you get all the best stuff from 3 and the ODST stuff (So Firefight, Reach Beta and a Portal-esque campaign)

Also, 3 is going very cheap.
Sorry, which one is Halo:CE?
The original Halo, which had by far the best campaign of the others (Although ODST had a pretty solid, albeit short, campaign)
Halo 1 (its official tithe is Halo Combat Evolved hence CE)

Well, seeing as Reach isn't out for a while, and if you don't want to wait for it, get ODST. It has a good campaign and firefight is fun, and it comes with the Halo 3 Multiplayer disk, which is great. Also, if you're getting it soon. you get the Reach Multiplayer Beta (Until the 19th). SO yeah, if you don't want to wait, go for ODST.

Combat Evolved, the first one. Still the most fun single player too, all nine years later.

Anyway, of that list I'd say wait for Reach or ODST. Reach is looking abnormally impressive for Bungie, maybe they've been allowed to take their time on this one. There's also a lot of very concious nods tothe level design and aesthetics of Halo CE, which is a good sign.

ODST plays better than 3 (in my opinion) and has the same multiplayer component, so if you can't wait I'd get ODST on the cheap.

SCARABS! Yes, you can drive things (like Scarabs) that you couldn't in other games.

But if you don't want an old game (you prick) I suggest you wait for Reach.
That's it, you've twisted my arm. I'm buying a new copy of Halo CE right now for my pc, right now! Then I'm redownloading Custom Ed, must get back into Danger Canyon with ma Warthog...

170MB, jeebus it's a small download.

I would wait for Reach, but if you'd rather not, then get ODST. I've heard it has a better single-player campaign than Halo 3 (I've only played Halo 3, and it wasn't that great), plus it has the entire Halo 3 multiplayer and the Reach beta.

If you want to play single player I would recommend Halo: Combat Evolved(the first Halo), but if multiplayer is what you're looking for, ODST is your best bet. You'll get the ODST firefight and campaign, Halo 3 multiplayer with all the maps, and you'll be able to play the Reach multiplayer beta.

Yeah, me too. Installed it recently, I've been having soo much fun on Blood Gulch.

Such a classic map for a classic game.

The first is by far the best single player. Halo 3/ODST (same multiplayer) have the best multiplayer, which is pretty fun with friends because you can customize the crap out of it to play however you want. Halo 2 has crappy single player and ODST's singe player is over in a flash.

I recommend Halo the most, followed by Halo 3.

Or wait for Reach, probably going to be better.

I didn't like Halo 1 or 2, but I enjoyed Halo 3, so I'll suggest that one.

Haven't played ODST though.

Reach. It isn't Microsofted like 2 and 3 were. It's going to be pure Bungie, just like the original.

Is the multiplayer on ODST the same as 3?
Literally, yes. They give a second disc which is just the Halo 3 multiplayer, without any of the extra weapons from the game.

Reach if you can wait, ODST if not. Unlike, it seems, everyone else, I hated the singleplayer of CE. ODST, you get a great single player, the full multiplayer of 3, and the Reach Beta (If you get it soon). It's up to you, but it's slightly tied between Reach and ODST- I only voted Reach 'cause I'm addicted to the beta at the moment.

I would say wait for Reach as it's getting closer every day.
However if you can't wait I'd say ODST. The reason being that it has the Reach Beta and isn't directly connected to the main trilogy so it won't push you into a story you are unfamiliar with if you haven't played any prior Halo title before Halo 3.

So yeah, ODST is the logical choice but you may want to consider just waiting for Reach.

Halo: Reach isn't out yet, I heard ODST was a big waste of money, and Halo 3 is probably a good value, especially considering how cheap it probably is now.

halo odst was fun and firefight was pretty sweet too assuming you have friends. halo 2 had the best online but we all know what happened there.
Actually I don't. What did happen there?
