Hell yes!

But they have to make it more intense than Fallout Vegas. I thought it was too lax for the amount of food and water that was around, which is going to be even more prolific in Skyrim. It would have probably been more difficult in Fallout 3.

I think it should definitely be an option.

Having to stop in taverns for food and drink, hunting and foraging, finding water streams. I dig that kind thing.

i would get around to it eventually but it wouldn't be very interesting, because of fast travel i think there should be NO FAST TRAVEL IN HARDCORE MODE. it should have been like that in new vegas
I think I read somewhere that their is fast travel in Skyrim, but it will have a cost associated with it. I don't know if it is a gold cost like for Morrowind's Silt Strider or a cool down cost like you can only use it once every half hour.
I also can't remember where I read that, anyone else know the source?

Also, lots of great replies! Is their some way we can show this to Bethesda? It might not be too late for them to add this feature.

I would like that, but it's confirmed that there won't be a hardcore feature.

And then Bethesda will say "HAX!" and threaten with a court order for them to remove it.

They didn't when people remade Hardcore mode in Fallout 3.

The only time they shut mods down was when they ported files from the ingame assets. They had no problem with recreating text in the game files. But when your porting models, textures, music etc that they had a problem with. A lot of developers have problems with porting files and most reputable mod sites like Nexus only allow it if you have proof the developer gave you permission to do so.

To my knowledge the only mod I ever saw actually do that was this mod for Dragon Age Origins that took files from the Witcher, and they actually got CD Projekt to allow it.

I think it'd be an interesting option. Unless Hardcore happened to be the only mode in Skyrim, I can't think of a reason against it.

I don't really want to have a hardcore mode in Skyrim. It fits with the Fallout series but not Elder Scrolls, the slider difficulty works just fine imo.
Hardcore mode doesnt just add to difficulty. It adds to immersion.

Drinking water, sleeping, eating food etc.

I'm not sure why anyone would want to cancel a possible boon to their company. If anything, if the mod improves their game, they should buy the concept out (giving royalties of course), and make it an official mod for the game.

For example: I want to play Oblivion co-op. Ohhhh do I ever want to do that, since my friend is sort of a heavy hitting Paladin with Healing spells, and I'm the sneaky, stealthy archer type with poisons and Destruction spells. We would be such a good combination together, but Bethesda ripped that concept away. :\

Safe to say my faith in Bethesda being a good neighbor (so to speak) took a huge hit when they removed that game mod. I'd like co-op in Skyrim, but I'm definitely not counting on it, no matter how much fun it would be.

Not a fan of hardcore modes to me those extra encumbrance rules add only tedium and no enjoyment, but why shouldn't it be an option for someone who want it.

Hardcore was an option for New Vegas because you're playing in a post-apocalyptic future wasteland with radioactive creepy crawlies hunting you while you rummage in ghoul-infested sewers for clean water.

Hardcore should not be an option for Skyrim, a fantasy setting in what appears to be a rich forest filled with deer and fresh, clear streams. With dragons.
I completely agree with this statement, survival in the Fallout universe is virtually the whole point of the series. With Skyrim being more focused on exploration of a lush world, living off the land should only be implied and not an actual practice, having to stop to find water or rat meat just to keep some bars up could really get in the way of exploration.

Obviously I could opt out but if they put it in they'd probably attach it to an achievement and then I'd be forced to play it, since I am a completionist when it comes to these games.

Yeah but it also added weight to ammo (there's no guns or ammo in Skyrim obviously so that's out), radiation (only fallout obviously), and something else that I can't think of at the moment but those things are what really made hardcore mode kind of difficult, or at the very least more difficult.

I guess what I'm saying is because of that, it would be kind of pointless to add that mode since stuff like drinking water, sleeping, eating food were very easy to maintain anyway. Seriously I was able to not sleep for many days and my sleep meeter is not even half way there. Water was everywhere just like Skyrim there would be a ton (only not radiated), and food would be even easier to find or even make since we have alchemy, and even without that it's pretty damn easy.

Unless they somehow change how fast your character gets tired, hungry, thirsty, etc. I don't see the point in that.
I still found it more of an immersive experience then just making the game harder. Having to survive in a desert.

I mean compare it to the game at vanilla where the player is a super human who eats stimpacks. and regenerates his health instantly.

Also the game does actually have ammunition, in terms of arrows.

It's all in relation to money.

The reason why they canceled Morroblivion was because it ported assets directly from Morrowind to Oblivion. Instantly players could go "Hmm there's this game called Morrowind I'm interested in... oh wait there's a free mod that lets me play it in Oblivion? Score!" Instantly they'd lose money.

I personally would hate Co-op in Oblivion or even Skyrim since it'd likely be tacked on and badly coded. But that's just me. But with regards to "buying the concept out". Even less likely to happen. Only Valve is known for doing that and since Valve's developer team is almost entirely built up of people that were known for modding games like Quake/Half Life it's easy to see why.

That and the fact Bethesda is owned by Zenimax which publishes their games. Before Bethesda would be able to greenlight any project Zenimax would have to give funding to the developers first.
