Never tried it in new vegas plan to once I play through again. That said my first play probably won't have it my second probably will.
Let me give you a quick idea of what New Vegas is like in Hardcore mode:
-You have to drink water every now and then. (Food and sleep are hardly ever needed)
-Healing isn't instant anymore.
-Try not to use too many ammo types.
-Healing limbs is a ***** in the early game, but gets easier once you can easily buy Doctor's Bags.
-Get the perk that halves the weight of anything under 1lb. Holy shit is that useful. Why do you ask? BECAUSE IT ALSO EFFECTS AMMO WEIGHT.
-Companions perma-die. In case of derpy AI, quicksave.
That's pretty much it.
OT:
I liked it in NV, and would like it in Skyrim,
although at this point (face it), it's only going to emerge as a mod.
Said modder would likely need to add in hydration related items- I doubt vanilla Skyrim is going to come with bottled/pouched water items.
I always wanted to try to absorb myself in Oblivion by actually using Inns when I didn't need to and eat when I certainly didn't either. Having a hardcore mode that promotes this kind of play would be a nice option.
