I want to say yes, but I would probably end up just playing it on normal mode for the convenience.

Might be interesting since it would offer a bit more replay value but... I'll already be sinking enough time into that as is so it doesn't need anything else to keep me hooked >.<

No...just....no. That would be a terrible idea. It was a terrible idea for Fallout(as were most if not all of the gameplay changes Obsidian made in New Vegas). I don't want to see Elder Scrolls ruined with something like that.

Absolutely.
Hardcore mode instantly adds meaning to the economy. No longer are you grinding for weapons - now you're sustaining yourself with your hard-earned profits. Especially if the economy is tweaked towards the higher difficulty levels - so you're actually struggling to survive. Gives each action more meaning, IMO.

Especially since you can grow/cook your own food - just add in some sort of temperature bar (to give armor a stat other than damage reduction), and we're golden.

Now I understand that some people just want to go dungeon crawling, other people just want to go questing, and still others (mostly those not playing Skyrim) just want to kill other people online... but there's a whole contingent of us, as demonstrated by the sales of Minecraft's survival mode, who would like nothing better than to LIVE in a game world. So, if only for the sake of our demographic, hardcore mode please!

I did not like the Hardcore mode in Vegas. I was all *Turns on Hardcore mode* "OH god! I'm being weighed down by a thousand bullets! *Dumps everything* I know how one weapon, some armour, and about fifty bullets. Nope, going back to easy mode."

Realistic and cool and all, but I like having the ability to carry around nine thousand rockets...

As for Skyrim, you'd just be laid down with scrolls and arrows. Just about everything else would have it's own weight anyway.

I heard hard core in New Vegas wasn't too bad. So why not have it for Skyrim? I'd try it at least.

Never tried it in new vegas plan to once I play through again. That said my first play probably won't have it my second probably will.
Let me give you a quick idea of what New Vegas is like in Hardcore mode:

-You have to drink water every now and then. (Food and sleep are hardly ever needed)

-Healing isn't instant anymore.

-Try not to use too many ammo types.

-Healing limbs is a ***** in the early game, but gets easier once you can easily buy Doctor's Bags.

-Get the perk that halves the weight of anything under 1lb. Holy shit is that useful. Why do you ask? BECAUSE IT ALSO EFFECTS AMMO WEIGHT.

-Companions perma-die. In case of derpy AI, quicksave.

That's pretty much it.

OT:
I liked it in NV, and would like it in Skyrim, although at this point (face it), it's only going to emerge as a mod.

Said modder would likely need to add in hydration related items- I doubt vanilla Skyrim is going to come with bottled/pouched water items.

I always wanted to try to absorb myself in Oblivion by actually using Inns when I didn't need to and eat when I certainly didn't either. Having a hardcore mode that promotes this kind of play would be a nice option.

Not being funny but that's the point you can turn it off. So it really wouldnt be a problem if those that found it too hard or didn't like it, didnt want it on.

They have said that they aren't putting it in anyway so I wouldn't worry.

Even though i didnt care for it in New Vegas, i WANT the option.

Why not include it? Theres no reason to not put it in the game. I think the problem was, in new vegas, it was to easy. If you played smart, you never took more then a round or two. But in Skyrim, i can see it really being a challange.

Maybe they also make it so skills take longer to level? And healing takes much longer. For more realism. And carry over the idea of crippling injuries. But dont make it so they get fixed instantly. Just because you wrap it in a bandage doesnt mean you can walk on it 3 seconds later.

I wasnt hardcore, to be HARD F*CKING CORE.

Yeah, but it better be fuckin' HARDCORE, because simply making it so that I have to pause every 10 minutes and open the inventory to gulp down some water (or just bind it to hotkey 7) is not hardcore. And heal-over-time stimpacks still heal a fuckload. Even on Very Hard and Hardcore active, New Vegas was (is, still playing from time to time) a walk in the park.

I played hardcore in Oblivion, Fallout 3 and NV (first 2 with mods, ofc). It doesn't add much to the game, it's more like drinking a flask in WoW, something you need to place in your bags and use when the red debuff shows on screen. I think that meat should get spoiled unless cooked, and even cooked food shouldn't last more than 2 days. Eating should take longer, maybe use it like the potions in Witcher 2. Find a safe spot, start a fire and combine eating with resting.

Yeah maybe. Not sure if it would just become an irritation or not, as I never played New Vegas. But I would definitely like to see a Survival skill and some good uses for it, maybe tracking and navigation or something, as I always liked the ranger-type characters.

But no Bear Grylls-style shit-eating please.

Oh yeah. I loved the fact that they factored in sleep, hunger and thirst in NV, but not in a way that was too intrusive or debilitating. As long as you had a few food and drink items on you, you'd be fine, and you didn't have to eat and drink every five minutes, either. It was excellent and I'd love to see the same kind of immersion in Skyrim.

Even though it's been confirmed that it won't be in the game, I would have loved to have had a hardcore mode in the game. Especially with those really cool melee weapon finishing moves that they brought in - if you risk serious injury in fights, you tend to limit fighting as much as possible, which means that a crossing with a group of bandits turns into a seriously hardcore battle.
