Why the hell are so many people putting Final Fantasy games as something they cried over?

Even if the story is nice (which it isn't go watch review on http://spoonyexperiment.com/) I find it a little hard to invest in the story when the gameplay is so dull and repetitive. I can maybe see someone being sad, but actually breaking down and crying is just unfathomable.

If so, what was the last game that made you cry? And why? Was it because of some traumatizing experience, tears of joy/rage/sadness, or because someone burned down that giant wooden mansion you were building in Minecraft? Post a comment and explain!
OUCH!!! thats happened to me before... (the mansion thing)

Two games have made me cry. Kingdom Hearts 1 and Kingdom Hearts 2. The first one with tears of sadness in the end. And the second tears of joy at the end.

Not a game but I tear up a bit at the end of paprika every time. I can't honestly recall any games that made me tear up though I imagine there were a couple I just can't remember them off hand, it has to be an incredible game however because most of the time I won't get as emotionally involved in games as I do with movies.

I've nearly cried at a game or two: *SPOILERS JUST IN CASE*

Gaz's death in COD 4
Eli's death in Halflife 2 ep 2
A sizeable chunk of Shadow of the colossus (but then again I was a lot younger when I first played it, it just makes me upset now)

Can't say I've ever full out cryed because of a game. Athough there were times in games that made me sad. For instance in GTA 4 when you have to kill one of the irish brothers(can't member da names). It sucked because I really didn't want to kill either of them but they forced me into it.

I never cry, because I'm a manly man and I like..lift.. heavy things, and stuff.

I do feel emotionally moved, although I never actually cry, much in the same way that, when I'm alone, I rarely laugh out loud at something I find hilarious.
A game that has probably moved me the most would be Mother 3, there are many parts that made me feel like I should be tearing up.
Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure, while the gameplay is pretty..godawful, had a very touching ending as well.

This is why i can't get as emotionally involved in games, most of the time in an rpg you can prevent a death that's why me1 was so good,
Saren's death wasn't avoidable you couldn't talk him out of killing himself even if you wanted to

It's been awhile for me.

But the last time I cried in a game was the end of MGS3. The Boss. :((

I can't recall the last game that made me cry, but the ending of FFX /always/ makes me cry. Actually, come to think of it, it has been a while since I have cried from a video game.

Nope. I've been sad yeah, but not to the point of tears. Game stories just aren't good enough yet to make me tear up.

Although Shadow of the Colossus came damn close. You know, right before the end. On the bridge. It made me sadface :(

Recently posted on a similar thread, and no a game has not reduced me to tears although some have come close most notably RDR which seems to have struck a similar chord with other people on this thread. Others include moments in GTA4, MGS1 and 4, HL2 Ep2 as well as the Mass Effect games.

Edit: Shit, I forgot to mention the end of Limbo was pretty poignant.

When you kill mission and zalbaar in KoTOR
When was this?!

O.T. Never. Not at a book, film or piece of music... I'm not exactly proud of that fact but not ashamed of either.

Nope, I remember a movie that once made me cry, but never a game.

Although some have succeeded in making me feel weak-hearted. You know, when your skin gets a bit tingly and you feel something shiver in your stomach or chest.

- The endings of the first two Shadow Hearts games.
- The ending of The Darkness.
- That one part in Lost Odyssey (oh come on, if you played the game, you KNOW what part I mean)
- The "You're Not Alone" sequence in Final Fantasy IX.

- Last but not least: Final Fantasy X-2, not because it was so darn good, but because it slowly killed of everything its predecessor had built up. Well, apart from the 'Britney Spears'-like intro, there it was bombastically destroying everything its predecessor had built up.
