No, I do not shout out at the theaters. It is rude and people would hate me for it. The only thing I do out-loud in theaters is laugh. I laugh because it is funny and deserves whatever recognition my funny bone deems necessary. Nobody complains, because they'll be laughing too.

Example: I recently saw Captain America. When a soldier asked him if he knew what he was doing, he said "Don't worry, I've punched out Hitler over a hundred times.". Maybe here, for those who haven't seen it, this one simple line isn't incredibly funny. In context, it was fucking hilarious and I loved it.

There have only been a few times I've yelled in the theatres. Both times it was screenings of films that had been out of theatres for a while. The first time occurred during a screening of Independence Day at the Bloor Cinema in Toronto. When Will Smith punches the alien and the face and says: "Welcome to Earth!" I was right there yelling alongside him (the audience cheered after that line). The second time occurred during a recent screening of Predator at a cineplex here in Montreal. Almost every significant moment in that movie warranted loud, obnoxious cheering (at least from me). At the point in the film where they're firing all guns at once (at the trees) I yelled out "Fuck those trees!"
So, yeah, I have yelled in a theatre. Not in the way you're describing, though.

I've laughed out loud at how stupid a movie was when I wasn't supposed to. The two movies that made me laugh the hardest at the "dramatic" moments were Hannibal Rising and POTC 2.

I was the only one laughing at the stupid moments.

I generally try to go to movies that I'm sure I will like, and when I got to the theater with a friend to watch a movie of their choice I tend to keep my mouth shut.

Although I wish I had gone to see Splice last year in theaters, simply because I wanted to scream out "DAVID HEWLETT, YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH". To this day I still regret missing that opportunity. But hey, I think he's in Rise of the Planet of the Apes, so yay for second chances?!

lord of the rings return of the king. i will always remember when eowyn stabbed the witch king in the face and said "i am no man" everyone cheered and clapped. i don't know if that counts, but that was my most exciting movie theater experience...

i don't go to the movies a lot.

Does it count if I yelled because everyone was clapping?

Cause..people who clap at movies are idiots. Its annoying, rude, and no one hears it who wants to. (ie the actors)
Me and a friend of mine were constantly screaming 'SHUT THE FCK UP' during the midnight showing of HP7-2.

Also I yelled at my girlfriend for texting, and constantly checking the time[footnote]She had told some of her friends she'd be picking them up about ONE AND HALF HOURS AFTER THE MOVIE STARTED [/footnote], during Captain America.

Fucking Green Lantern a.k.a. Worst Movie I've Ever Seen.

"Why are we stopping the movie to go hang out in a bar?"

"How did he know the bad guy was here?"

"Why did he put the helicopter on a hot wheels track? Couldn't he just make a giant net or hand to pick it up?"

"Why did he have to explode the debris off of Carol? Again, couldn't he just pick it up?"

"Why didn't they give him a real costume?"

"Hey, If we're not advancing the plot at all, why don't we go have a pod race?"

"Why did they let him keep his ring after he quit the Corps? The police wouldn't let an ex-cop keep his badge and gun!"

"So lets see if I understand. You're going to try to harness the power of fear, in order to defeat the guy who was foolish enough to think he could harness the power of fear?"

"An impassioned speech about the value of humanity?! WTF is going on!?"

"Why did you give that impassioned speech if you weren't asking the guardians for help? You flew off to Oa in the center of the fucking galaxy, leaving the earth completely undefended I might add, so that you could go and talk to the them....why exactly?"

"He [Parallax] looks like poop with bits of corn stuck in!"

"You punched him in the fucking face?! Missiles, guns, and a fucking platoon of Green Lanterns have no effect, but you can just punch a smoke monster in the face and send him flying into the fucking sun?. If only the Sinestro had known Paralax's weakness to fists earlier!"

No, but I did scream in horror before a movie once during the commercials, when the first Fanta commercial I'd seen in years came on.

Okay, so it wasn't a scream, per se, but it was still a big "NOOOOOO...!"

Nope, but I was getting pretty close to it in Transformers 2:

*Jar Jar twins engaging in stupid, racist dialogue*
Me thinking: "I should just yell out right now how fucking stupid these two characters are, who knows, I may be met with applause."

I yelled "Look! A hickey!" during Paranormal Activity when one of the characters gets that weird bruise on their back. Several audience members laughed. Pretty much the entire audience that I was with hated the movie and laughed at it as much as I did. T'was quite fun and almost made up for wasting that much money on such a crappy movie.
I had pretty much the same experience, except I was in a dollar theater so people had even less of a reason to care about money. The entire theater (maybe 20-25 people) spent the whole time yelling at the screen since the movie was so boring

I really really really wanted to yell out "Wizard Lightning Battle!" during the last Harry Potter Movie but I managed to resist, someone a few rows back did make me laugh though, when Hagrid randomly turns up they yelled "Your A Wizard Harry!"

Oh and before the film started, me and my friends were just sat there and we all started singing the song from "the mysterious ticking noise", and a few other people joined in, like some guy a few rows back just yelled out "DUMBLEDORE!" and everyone who got it laughed.

A few years back I couldn't help but laugh, I'm so going to hell for this one but a 4 of us were watching "Marley and Me", got to the point where
the dog dies
and while everyone was crying he yelled out "Its just a dog!", for some reason I found that hillarious, probably because I was so bored at the time

Anyone who makes loud and unnecessary noise in a cinema is inconsiderate and ruins it for others.

The Eragon movie. If you've seen it and read the book, you know what I'm talking about.

HINT: The movie is terrible.

Alien VS. Predator. This movie was garbage, and I question the mental stability of anyone who thought it wasn't.

Anyway, it wasn't me, but my brother who yelled out in the theater during this one. It was a scene where a facehugger was flying through the air in slow motion, he stood up and yelled "MOMMY!"

Half the theatre laughed, and we walked out. As we walked out I noticed someone had tossed something at the screen earlier, obviously displeased with this movie.

Though I've never really considered myself a fan of Harry Potter, I loved the last film to the point that every scene involving Neville Longbottom had me cheering.

He's such a badass...

No, my friend has though. He yelled 'Yes!' at the top of his lungs when Grindor came on the screen while we were watching Transformers 2, he thought it was Blackout -,-

The closest thing like that that I ever came to was at the midnight release of The Dark Knight, when the Warner Bros. logo finally came on, people started cheering because we were all excited for the movie. And then the Legendary Pictures logo came on but everyone had quieted down at that point, so I stood up and yelled "Yeah! Legendary Pictures!" I made everyone in the audience laugh for about the first two minutes of the movie.
I'm sure that the part of the story wherein everyone approves of what you have done is completely accurate.

And you were right. Christopher Nolan and his production company have nothing to do with the quality of The Dark Knight.

The only time I've felt that some idiot shouting at a movie in a theater was justified was when I saw the re-release, 15 years later, of The Empire Strikes Back. Of course everyone there had already seen the film before, because everyone had already seen the film before, so no tension was being broken and no spoilers introduced by the guy who when Leia kissed Luke to prove a point to Han yelled out "It's your sister!"

My Mom Sister wanted to see New Moon at Midnight and I don't say "no" to free movies. Anyway, the movie begins and even though the screen clearly read "Twilight Saga: New Moon" what it showed was clearly a clearly a crescent moon. So I called the film out on it and heard every boyfriend there guffaw at my quip.
