Do you think Morrowind has aged poorly? I personally can't speak because I never played the game but I heard(or read) of complaints about the combat and interface.

Yeah, the combat isn't very good, and the animations are...well, they're really bad.
It hasn't aged very well.

It's still my favorite Elders Scrolls game though!

To me, yes. I still can't get into it because I can't stand the combat system. I'm possibly doing something wrong so I'm still willing to work at it though.

Certainly. People have finally come to realize what crap the combat system was, among other things...
Like the user interface, the dialogue system, the story itself, the whole "no fatigue = very low chance to hit" thing...
It doesn't make sense that I swing a massive warhammer at a rat 2 inches in front of me 10 times before I finally hit it.

Yes it looks horrible, I'm told you can get mods for it though.

Also when you start out, the run speed makes you want to punch kittens.

Well, the melee combat was never good haha. But I think it has aged great (better than Oblivion) for 2 main reasons:

1. Emphasis on aesthetics over graphics - the world actually looks unique and interesting.
2. Insane modding community. You can make it look better than games released half a decade later, or tweak the gameplay to your hearts' content.

Depends, does having to give it a fair amount of patience mean it's aged? It took me a while to get into it about a year ago but once I did I couldn't come off it.

I just find it odd that I think morrowind is the better game despite oblivion having (slightly) better combat

The game was never about the combat, plus, you can find dozens of mods that overhaul combat. I think it's safe to call Morrowind my favorite game ever. There's just an endless amount of stuff to do. Hell, one of my character was a vampire werewolf druglord business-tyrant god king jesus (but everyone is jesus, it's kinda part of the story). The game is about the story, the freedom, and challenge of going from a deported prisoner to the ruler and savior of an entire nation. Combat is more or less just a distraction along the way.

By itself, most definitely. It's archaic and poorly balanced (more than IV in some ways). It's a chore to navigate. However, modder communities have basically kept in on the life support machine for years. If people want to play it, fine by me. I know Skyrim is just going to blow it out of the water for most of its remaining fan base.

I just picked it up again last year, and it's aged just fine. The combat and interface were pretty bad when I first played, and they haven't gotten any worse. The story and setting have only gotten better with replays. And the graphics don't really bother ME, but I could see it for some people.

Some years back, it was great. Today, it's a filth-encrusted, rusty sword that just makes a "woosh" noise when you swing it at people. Polishing said sword (that is, modding) may help a bit, but I don't think having maintenence done counts as aging well.

The game was already old when it was released. But any kind of problem you could possibly find with it could be fixed by a mod.

I've only just started playing Morrowind, I can say that the combat is very very dated. It took me an age to realise that just because I could see myself hitting an enemy with my sword didn't mean it was doing any damage. Still a view trips to the wiki to find out where I was going wrong, as well as some mods to smooth out the graphics and I'm starting to like it, much more immersive than I found Obilvion. I like how it doesn't hold your hand too much and your not just following a quest marker around which does encourage you to get more immersed in the game world.

A few other small annoyances for me is how the iventory management is done. I like how all my stats, iventory and maps are displayed with one button press, but I find trying find specific items a chore because of the tiny and very similar item logos (probably fixable with mods). However these complaints just seem to highlight how far gaming standards have come in the last decade.

Its aged alright, I played it for the first time a couple of months ago and I was disappointed by the fact that you cant auto travel, I didnt know where exactly to go and my character was weak, I much prefer Oblivion, but I feel that will look equally as poor as Morrowind when Skyrim is released

Oh, God yes. I tried to play the game for the first time last year and found it extremely off-putting for several reason that you're probably heard a thousand times before. From the "why isn't anything happening??" combat to the odd design choices for certain things (trying to go really detailed on character models even though the technology just wasn't there for it. People are hideous in the game, even worse looking than most N64 characters at the beginning of its cycle).

Yeah, Morrowind has aged terribly. I know many older games than it that look and play better.

A lot of games don't age well. Morrowind is no exception. Also, everything Morrowind did, Oblivion did better (IMO). Thus making Morrowing obsolete.

I had to install about 54 mods (I counted) to improve the game to the point of being able to play it. Then it became my favourite Elder Scrolls!

That doesn't pass the straight face test. Almost everything Morrowind did well, Oblivion failed at, while adding some good points of its own.
