Well I'm not a big fan of the dark. ( I wouldn't say I'm scared of it though. I just don't like it. ) Since I usually play games at night I haven't been playing Bioshock a lot. I want to beat it cause it's an awesome game but it just creeps me out when I play it at night.

I guess I have a fear of excessive gore, but that hasn't stopped me from finishing a game. It creeps me out when I see a bunch of well rendered bloody messes that used to be people lying around, but that's all.

I have a weird thing with pixelated and DOS-like stuff. I assume its because when I was a little girl, the only time my father ever paid attention to me was when he was playing games like Heretic or later, Tomb Raider. So, I love retro gaming stuff, but even playing Tomb Raider makes me get a cold sweat, and scream when surprised. I've found a nice compromise in Adventure games, though.
Its a little bothersome that I can't play Daggerfall; it looks like a great game, but I feel sick and exhausted after even half an hour.

My friend has a vehement fear of zombies. He can't play Nazi Zombies, Resident Evil, L4D... a bunch of stuff.

Water... Dark, deep water areas. I'm partially afraid of the dark and afraid of carnivorous fish. This was all because of those god damn slaughterfish... Never play morrowind when you're only 9 years old. Fucking scars you for life if you're not prepared...

Anytime I have to swim in a game I simply put it off. Oh I have to go through a water filled tunnel for that quest? Well that quest isn't gonna be completed. I just don't like the idea of being able to attacked from any angle and not being able to see. It simply scares the shit out of me.

Also I have a conspicuous fear of low textured creatures. I literally can barely get through Half-life (the original I mean) because of it. Maybe it's just that fact that the low texture leaves more to the imagination and any amount of fear becomes vocalized as you envision it in a manner that scares you most. All I know is that that low textured thing killing me and taking up the whole screen freaks me out.

Nope, the only reason I've never completed some games is due to procrastination. That's basically it though, I don't have any phobias that I know of.

I don't have any phobias, at least I don't think I do. On the subject of arachnophobia, I used to have that, but I don't anymore. Except I am afraid of the ones that can do horrible things to you, such as the Brown Recluse, but there's obviously a good reason for that.

It's interesting to see arachnophobia listed a lot in this thread. While I'm certainly not accusing anyone of lying, I wonder what the line is between arachnophobia and simply hating spiders.

For instance, I have no problem killing a spider I see outdoors or indoors, but I find myself to be almost paranoid after I find and kill one, checking around the room thoroughly to see if there are any more in the room. It's the worst if it's somewhere enclosed like my bathroom, or my bedroom after I turn the lights off.

I don't freak out when I see one, but it's the paranoia factor that has me wondering if I may have a mild case of it.

no, but it has made it more difficult...

I'm used to be scared shitless of the dark... all the time. Well... now I'm not. I stay up all night, a lot of times when I go places it's after dark and I feel absolutely no fear.

However, comma... in games, darkness still scares me... I feel like I'm 6 years old again and sprinting for my house because the sun's going down... it's just a little embarrassing, but I can normally complete games set in the dark without screaming, I just jump a lot and end up wasting ammo.

No, because things that aren't real never scare me anymore. The closest I've come to being scared by a game was dead space, but that was more a case of stress, because I was playing on the hard difficulty. When I finally did finish it the sense of accomplishment was awesome.

Yes. I have phagophobia. Unfortunately for me, several games feature vore levels. I have no idea why. Apparently several different developers think that having a level take place inside some abominations digestive system is a great idea. These levels always make me incredibly nauseous to the point where I usually can't even force myself to watch them, let alone play them. This has led to me abandoning a number of games because of vore levels. Or I got one of my brothers to beat them for me. It has also lead to me being very paranoid in the purchase of some game. I'll be worried about it having a vore level in it, as I can't beat a game if it does.

Oddly enough a lot of these levels were in video game I played as a kid, which is something I've never quite understood. Guts spilling out of someone's body = bad and mentally scarring for a young child. Walking through someone's guts = perfectly acceptable.

No. But man, it would be cool to be that into a game that it did.
It's not cool. It's actually very frustrating to have a game you can't complete because of your phobia. Especially if it was a game you liked playing.

Double whammy for me. My fear of sewers and phagophobia screwed me out of Ape Escape.
The sewer thing I got over though....mostly.

A sewer phobia? And I thought mine sucked. Sewers levels are in so many video games.

No but I always freak out when spiders are involved. I. HATE. SPIDERS.

Tell me about it. I'm currently replaying Dragon Age and I decided to use Morrigan's shapeshifting (for the lulz, it's useless IMO). Then I instantly regretted it : OH FUCK IT'S A GIANT SPIDER GET IT OFF *pauses the game, jumps out of the seat and runs to the center of the room to make sure no spiders are crawling up her legs.

There's one part in Deep Roads where you have to fight spiders. Needless to say, it was horrible. They fall from the ceiling and right on your head.

Nah, I may be scared to attempt levels but I never stopped playing a game because I fear it.

And arachnaphobes should watch this video:

I must say, it's hilarious freaking arachnaphobes out, more so when I'm not afraid of them and scare arachnaphobes for happiness.
Ok arachnophobe or not that was some freaky shit!

And I have no phobias, thus this has never happened to me. I don't particularly like spiders but one would never make me stop playing a game.

They are some damn nasty spiders in that game. They creep me out and I'm not even an arachnophobe.

But they're nothing compared to Albino Radscorpions...

Any game with Arachnids makes me very hesitant to play it. Small are fine, larger are "HOLY SHIT FUCK DAMN HELP NAOW!". I viciously attempt to kill them quickly, so I don't have to look/deal with them anymore.

I have a fear of dead, or undead, children. It really bothers me to go to a funeral of a small child and gives me the heebie jeebies. I keep expecting the kid to "wake up" and do something. Don't know if there is a name for it. But dead kids 10 or less really freak the shit out of me. I don't think a game has made me stop. Silent Hill 1 made me have to chill out and take extended break though because of the little things with knives in the dark. Made me all paranoid and would actually prevent sleep if I played it too late.

Spiders can freak me out in a game but just because I think they are the most vile creatures on earth.

I hate shit with swimming levels. Don't even hate water, just something about swimming levels in videogames gives me the creeps
