Poll: Has Your Xbox 360 Failed?

Mine worked fairly well up until a month and a half ago, when after a couple years of faithfully performing it's duties, it RROD'd me. Microsoft replaced mine, and so far so good (knock on wood). Bought mine from GameStop, used to have some freezing problems, but they weren't enough to keep me from playing.
Don't let the RROD scare you from buying a 360. It's worth the risk.

I'm on my second 360. I got my first in July of 2006 and it failed just under a year later, in about early June 2007. I've had my current 360 ever since.

I only have a PS3 but do feel for all those 360 RROD owners. To make you feel better I'll say at least you get a free warranty. I'm screwed if my PS3 breaks!

As amazing as it is to say, mine hasn't died yet. I got mine February or so of this year, but it's much older than that. I don't know how old, I got it from a guy off craigslist. Although the disk drive is funky, it's been that way the whole time I've had it.

Mine was made in 2005 and it got the RROD just this past April, Specificly, it was on sunday night the week after GTA 4 was released.

It never actually failed, it just overheated too damn quickly because one of my brother's friends broke one of the fans. Good thing I went for the extended warranty (it was actually about a week from expiring).

Sorry, I misread the poll. I should have voted "No". My Xbox is a very early model - I got it used off Ebay, bought a cooling unit, and never looked back. It's survived falls, hot-swapping hard drives, being left out in the car, etc. with no ill effects.

If one of the fans is broken, it would brick in a matter of weeks, if not days, if not hours, if not minutes, if not seconds, if not milliseconds, if not nanoseconds, if not ticks.

Xbox = Dead? Me sad. I'm not sure when my 360 was made but I said before '07. Twice actually, it died. But the last one wasn't rrod. Disk tray got fucked.

I think I had better cross my fingers. My third party fan hasn't melted to it yet. And I have done a 14 hour stint on it back in my unemployed days.


Little worried about it, but I'm in England, so it is always cold. And I have the window open all year long, and the ceiling fan on. Keeps its nice and chilly in here most the time.

I think it helps that I dont smoke indoors, so the air is pretty clean. Stupid indoor rules of places and living.

I've never got RROD but a few of my friends have. I love my 360 but still...making a console that fails half the time is such an epic fail.

what? the x-box is not made for serious "gamer" types. it was made for a certain demographic. the young "Partying" male. it is simple and full of fun action games. but does not have the family/new gimmick appeal of the wii or the versatility of the PlayStation or PC. it is simple to set up, no long installs, no wires to trip over when in a party. it was made for that demographic, and it succeeded at what it sent out to do.

except for the red ring of death. but maybe micro$oft meant to do that, they did the same thing with windows ME (shudder) and now with Media Player 11...

my objection was with your use of "real" gamer.

I've been gaming for 20 years. If I'm not a real gamer, you're not an ass.

a person who would identify themselves as a gamer would not own an x-box and nothing else.
