So, the Golf GTI, a car which pretty much invented the hot-hatch market segment, as well as still being the benchmark for the market segment, doesn't count as a Volkswagen? Anyway, a Buick ain't a Chevrolet, but they're both parts of General Motors. Ferdinand Piëch was involved in the motorsports program of Audi (and previously, Porsche), and there's a relative amount of platform sharing to save costs.
