I think the only game I've ever traded in in my life was MW2, and I've kept every other one, even from when I was 5 and didn't know what the NES was.

I recently had a clear out, and traded in 26 360 games (would've been 27 if the guys had accepted my copy of Too Human). To me, this seems like a lot, but, on inspection, it turns out that that was less than a third of of my 360 collection.

I'm quite a hoarder of my games, for seemingly no reason.

Do you have an oversized collection (in your opinion)? If so, why?

PS. I also have a good 30 PS2 and 20 odd Gamecube games stowed away, but they're not going anywhere.

damn how much did you get for the trade in for those 26 games?

OT: i used to horde..but not at all anymore, i beat a game into the ground, and if its a keeper/classic, i keep it, which is maybe 1/3 the time since i choose my games wisely, otherwise they are immediately off to be traded in for more game credits at my game store =]

Oh it was easily into the triple figures, and in cash too. Not sure how much, but it was definitely well over £160.

I used to trade in all of my games right after i completed them because i didn't have much money, which left me with no games at all in the end.

Since getting a PS3 i'm hoarding everything though and rebuilding my old collection ;D
So far i have about 26 PS3 games, and i randomly bought 10 PS2 games that i still haven't played because they're so cheap.

Counting downloaded games i have like 70 titles on the PS3, impulse buying crappy downloady games that i'll never play, £200 down the drain >.<

Sigh, I hate threads like this, they remind me of how many games I don't have anymore :( Still have a box of 5 1/4" c64/dos and two boxes of 3 1/2" dos games.. at least as of the last time my wife wanted to pitch them..

I have a ton of PS2 games, but I don't really know where all of them are. I only play a few anyway.

God I have hundreds :S Then again, you can't trade in PC disks anywhere, can't replace N64 cartridges and I generally find other games' trade-in rates to be simply insulting. Better to hang onto them 'just in case' rather than basically hand over £20 profit to some selfish store.
Pretty much this. By the time I'm ready to hand in a game, it's been out for months/a year or so, so would trade in for a ridiculously low rate (Most I've seen was £8 for... I can't remember what it was, but they were selling it for about £30 used, I could see it on the shelf.)

So, I have a fair few games because it's not worth trading them in (though I'll lend them to people occasionally). Also because most of my games have a fair amount of replay value.

oh man, i almost never do the cash, i always keep it as store credit, you probably would have had a shit ton more if you left it at that (but hey, sometimes cash is good) but usually i figure im gonna be buying games in the near future at some point so i usually keep it as credit unless im in financial need

I have over 100 games for PC, i have 70 games on steam and many more on discs. I have 20-25 PS3 games. I never sell games because I like to go back and play them later.

My main platform is PC, over the years I've lost many a disc..On my desk, right now I have 6 Discs. On top of that I have a black box[footnote][That's Portal, Team Fortress 2 and Half Life 2 ep 2[/footnote] unlock code (no physical disc). There are a total of 15 registered, commercial games registered on my steam (One of which shares a Disc) and a further 18 games/expansion packs on Impulse. So a total of 38 PC games, I can think of at least 2 others that friends have borrowed, and another 4/5 that I've lost (holy shit I spend a lot of money on games).

I also have 6[footnote]Due to the obscene price of new PS3 games in Australia ($110+), and the lack of user created content (read short lifespan) on the platform I regularly trade mine in and buy used, thus the low number[/footnote] PS3 games, a Logitech G25 racing wheel and band hero guitar/drums mic for PS3 and maybe 10 Xbox 360 games (all the xbox games reside at a friends house, as my xbox got the PRoD a few months ago and I've no interest in replacing it).

I have about 25 games that are comparable with the Gameboy Advanced SP I own so I'll count the GB games with the GBA games. Generous parents adding a few games annually, my purchases of about 3 games annually plus winning a contest and getting 10 GB games a few years back accounts for most of it.

Counting the system I use most, the 360, then I have 21 so I went with that. I'm absolutely sure I have more than that for my computer, in fact I'd be surprised if I had less than fifty but it's a lost system for me. Last thing I thought I bought was Age of Empires III when it first came out and I can't bleedin' find most of the disks for my PC either.

a library well over 200 for my PC, my primary system
50 or so for my Xbox/360
30 for PS1/2
83 games for Nintendo
12 for SNES
5 for Sega Genisis
8 for N64

and ontop of that.
a drawer full of manuals
over 30 maps for diffrent games made of varied material
and an assortment of periferal gear for specific set ups.

why?
well... they are mine.
although i know i could yeild a pretty penny from selling a bulk of these... they are mine. most of these i've purchased with my own money and they have all filled me with hours of entertainment and joy. they... are a part of my life, so i can't caliously toss them out.

Well the reason for the clear out was that I really did need the cash, and I rarely ever buy games from the store anymore, it's all ordered online nowadays. As long as my orders are prepared before release date, I get the games much quicker that way.
