Online only. Apparently, dressing female characters in modest, practical clothes, not hitting on everything in sight, typing in full sentences, and being courteous and friendly means you must be female.

When I was working at a craft store, a young boy asked his mother whether I was a girl or a boy. Right in front of me. Snap.

On the phone I get mistaken for a woman all the time. My voice kind of fluctuates depending on my mood usually, but on the phone, I try to be as courteous and polite as possible and I guess it comes off feminine. I don't think I've been mistaken for a girl in real life though since I was a kid, not that I'd mind all that much, I act and dress kind of girly.

When I was at work I was busy cleaning some fixtures once.

A presumably sexist customer comes up behind me with their child and says "let's ask this lady."
When I turn around and they come face-to-face with my mustache... well you should have seen the embarrassment on their face.

Clearly, only women clean. Although what was funnier was... The customer was a woman :O!

I've never exactly been mistaken for a guy, with my only masculine feature being my broad shoulders.

However, when I was 8, I heard a kid say "she looks like a boy" right after I cut off about 18 inches of my hair to donate to Locks of Love.

Yep, I was quite young at the time and I had hair that was past my shoulders. It probably didn't help wearing a kilt either.

Nope.

I have no breast tissue to speak of, my dress sense is anything but feminine, I've had some degree of stubble for the past... 4 years, I have a fairly deep voice and I move around by viciously hip thrusting.

I've often been mistaken for a girl. The pathetic part is that it's happened so many times that I've forgotten most of them. The only one I can remember is that a host of a restaurant my mom and I went to accidentally referred to us as ladies. The only thing that made it stand out was how embarrassed he was and how much he apologized. By that point, it had happened often enough that I didn't care anymore.

The thing is, I don't have long hair. I often don't shave for days and have dark stubble. I also, you know, dress like a man. That Simpsons avatar (not yellow, mostly pale) is pretty much exactly how I look.

Yes. It was during the olympics in 2002 (I live in UT and in Park City at the time) and we were going to a venue. I was wearing a winter and I had really short hair at the time.

"Thank you sir."
"I'm a girl."

Never, in spite of having hair all the way down my back.
I guess being almost two meters tall and having broad, sexy shoulders help.
You sound like a sasquatch ;).

Maybe I could be mistaken for a big russian woman if she was 6'4" with reasonably broad shoulders, was losing hair at the front and had an adam's apple with a five o'clock shadow..

Afraid I haven't. I generally have short hair and really a non-feminine body(broad shoulders, tall and all that.) so.... yeah

I don't think that's possible for me. I sport what is known as a badass beard, and the lady in my life likes that I have one.

Not once.
Short hair, deeep voice, broad shoulders just made for blazers and a crazily fast growing beard.
