On the crystal version for the Gameboy Colour I caught 249, which is all but Mew and Celebi...which you have to cheat to get, so I think I can count that one. Riakou (the lightning legendary beast) took about a week of chasing around, he was the last one and I almost gave up on him, perseverance people!

Yes, back when there was only 151, I caught them all. Between me and one of my friends from school we strove to complete our respective Pokedexs.

I tried with my friends when we were younger, but we never got even halfway to getting them all before getting bored and playing in the trees and the park again.

It was an interesting bit of time, though.

Once, I had obtained all 151 (my friend had a Mew) for my Pokemon Blue version. At the time it was very satisfying.

It's really hard to get the event ones in Sweden, so no. The only event I have is Deoxys. Without event ones I've completed a few regional, but never national ones. I never bothered.

I got enough Pokémon to be awarded a diploma in Pokémon Diamond, But I still lacked a few event-only legendaries. Receiving my Diploma was a lot less magical than my child self imagined it would be...

The only things I have ever gotten 100% in were the original Spyro trilogy, the original Crash Bandicoot trilogy, and BRUTAL LEGEND (Odin's BEARD that was tough. I did it without the Occulus of the Lost DLC too).

I can imagine that catching all the Pokemon would require some hard core grinding.

I got em all in the Original Red. Me and my mum used to play all day.

I don't play that often anymore but she recently hit 500 hours on Heart Gold so god knows how many she has on that version atm.

I have never caught every Pokemon in the game once since I started playing the game as a kid. The reason for this was that I always simply enjoyed playing the game for the story and the challenges that are put before you, all the random trainers, gym leaders, and the villains you have to save the world from create a challenge that allows you to level up and bond with your Pokemon. I enjoyed catching as many Pokemon as I could while the story of the game was going on but there isn't much post-game content to keep me interested enough to keep playing, once the story ends there doesn't feel like there is any significant challenge to put my Pokemon up against.

Basically what I am saying is that it is pointless to have all of the Pokemon if you will never get a chance to put them up against a significant or fun challenge as all the major obstacles other than the Elite Four are no longer available. Regardless I will do it one day simply for the "Wow, I accomplished the slogan of the series." factor of it. Though I wish it would be easier to catch them all, it is stupid that you have to get certain events and certain versions to get every Pokemon, I wish every Pokemon was already attainable in the game.

Yep. All 649 of the little buggers. Only cheated for the impossible ones. (that's right, legit Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Deoxys, Manaphy, and Darkrai). The GTS helps a LOT.

Yes I am insane.

Yes, but only across multiple games.

In no way is it worth the effort. I do not recommend it to anyone.

Anyone who plays pokemon as some sort of stamp collecting simulator isn't entirely right in the head.

Gen 1 - Red: Caught them all *Yellow: Gave up after using it to help me through Red

Gen 2 - Silver: Caught most of them but the game died

Gen 3 - Sapphire: Only focused on leveling my team and ocasionaly catching rares or poemon to use new HM's on

Gen 4 - Diamond: Time 225:05 Pokedex 437, I'm so close buit this is where it's really gotten hard especially when it comes to getting pokemon fromn 3rd gen, guess I should have gone out of my way to catch more of them back then, migrating would have been so much easier.

Gen 5 - Black: Played to the third city, caught Victini and gave up the amount of battles you have to do with your "friends" really annoyed me at first and eventually pushed me away.

I managed it in Red, but ever since then I've felt that it's not worth it. Too much of a grind for no good reward, and since they add at least 100 each generation it very quickly became an outlandish thing to do.
