I didn't really care for the other cover.
I just kept it on the original.

Though I REALLY like the idea of a flip-able cover. It can make things look different and people can change a disliked cover to something better in a few seconds.

More games should do it. :p
I agree, it would be wonderful if a lot of developers did this. I can't tell you how many PS3 games I own that just have black or white covers...it's off-putting to me to see all these white/black games lined up on my shelf, though that could be just some odd form of OCD I have or something.

Won't be able to pick up Infinite until this afternoon, which is most unfortunate, but as soon as I'm done mucking about with everything in my Ultimate Songbird Edition, I'll flip it over. The cover art doesn't bother me, but the reverse side is just plain lovely. Some people were disappointed that Elizabeth wasn't on the cover, but I care a hell of a lot more about the Songbird taking his rightful place there.
Elizabeth was actually on the cover at one point. Supposedly, many women were turned off by the cover, and the general male demographic that they tested it on kept asking if ELizabeth appears nude at some point, or if there is a sex scene with her.

They changed the cover to show case that the game is about shooting people, not having sex with a lead character. One of the guys even asked to meet the cosplayer who's on the advertisement just to grab her breasts.

Well, there goes some more of my faith in humanity. I did hear in an interview with Ken Levine that the cover was chosen based on a broad group of people's reactions, but for fuck's sake...I was hoping that the demographic of people who would just randomly pick up and buy a game up in a store because it had a "cool" cover wasn't nearly as large as Irrational made it sound when justifying their decision. Now I wonder, though I'm terrified to know the answers.

Oh and hey, Joker. ;P

Honestly, am I the only one that finds some amusement that so much is happening just over a game cover? I actually never took much notice of it until lately. As you said, most people who buy it probably DO know what they're getting into, rather than going ''Hey, this has a nice cover, let me buy it'', specially since games cost 60$ now a days.
But, to be fair, this ''controversy'' did give us a really nice flip cover.

But if it is true, then...yeah, do we really need to know?

Damn it, my secret identity has been revealed. >__>

Generally I'm completely sick of characters being on the cover. Box-art should reserve space for original design, such as the one voted for. Be unique.. Seriously. This isn't 80's Video Store VHS covers where everything is an action movie caricature.

You should look at a cover and be made to think about what you are seeing. It shouldn't just be.. "Yup, that is the main character." If you need to show a generic dude holding a gun so the heathens will buy it, then put it on the back cover. "What's this, looks weird.. *turns over box* Oh snap, dude with a gun - buying it right now!"

The secondary art looks awesome but uhhh I just bought it on Steam... So yeah. That's a thing.

[sub]I'll just leave now[/sub]

I "preordered" it on Steam after The Escapist (and I think every gaming publication ever) gave it 5/5 stars and I got the "preorder" in 3 hours before it came out on Steam. BEATING THE SYSTEM MAN! THE REVOLUTION IS HERE!
Wait, what? How can you get a Bioware game on Steam anymore? I thought EA had them pretty firmly locked inside Origin for the PC?

OT: If I get the physical copy (I've yet to get around to playing Bioshock 1 and 2) I will be flipping it, the red one just looks fantastic.
Bioshock Infinite is developed by Irrational Games not Bioware, where did you get that idea from? Bioshock and Bioware I guess? Anyway since it's not an EA thing it's on Steam for £29.99 buy now, beat the rush.

My download is on bloody 16%. SIXTEEN after one and a half hours! YOU SUCK INTERNET!
Yep, that was pretty much my assumption. Well then, time to play 1 and 2 then, 'cause Infinite does look great.

Totally worth the preorder though since you get the original Bioshock, XCOM and a few other things basically for free.

OT: I like both of them to be perfectly honest but I also have a digital copy so it doesn't matter :p

The reverse side does look pretty cool, but out of sheer laziness and I would kind of rather have a BAMF on the front, I'm leaving the original.

Dude, women were turned off because it made the game look like Cleavage 2: Boobs Reloaded.

Dude, men were curious about nudity/a sex scene because the game looked like Anonymous Hooker XVII: The Cleavage Returns.

There's a reason the first cover with Elizabeth didn't fly.

Just though i'd note, that's not actually the real old cover....
Tbh, the cover should involve Elizabeth to some extent, considering she's a major part of the game. IMO, her design isn't so revealing.

Who in the hell do they ask?! Where do they find those people? Christ almighty, that was so depressing I may just go have a cup of tea. 300 emails a day asking to see Elizabeth nude. 300. Over a hundred thousand emails a year to see her naked.
As a male, the entire thing sickens me. Asking to see the cosplayer to grab her breasts? These aren't humans these are animals! I'm shocked that went down.

Both the cover and story look pretty fake to me. It doesn't help that I can't find anything similar to this story with a Google search.

Her design isn't very revealing or anything. However, the cover design you linked placed... shall we say... emphasis on her breasts, and when combined with covering up most of her face with logos it makes her seem more like "stripper you see in the loading screens of GTA games" as opposed to "major character who exists for reasons other than to titillate male[footnote]and bisexual and lesbian[/footnote] gamers".

Which is why I doubt that was the actual cover, but rather something the article guys put together as a way to get the idea across. Covering the characters face with logos doesn't really seem like something you'd do on a game cover...
