so i got to thinking the other day that i'm an awesome cook!!!
ego stroking aside i really do cook well and in another life who knows i may have been a world class chef, maybe one day i might get a hot dog cart or something but for the time being my talents are wasted.
so what is it in your life that you do exceptionally well and are you putting that skill to good use?

I'm pretty sure I just suck at life.

If I *do* have a calling, I haven't found it yet...

I was encouraged to draw, I went to school for drawing, I now have a job in which I draw,
but I have wondered if I'd make a good veterinarian.

My main talent is being adequate to good at "everything", a jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none. So no, I don't feel I've missed my calling, I think I just don't really have one.

I like my current job well enough, I don't love it though. On the other hand I'm not convinced there is such a thing as a "fun" job.

I don;t really have a "talent" (except for my fabulous avatars of coarse)

my only ever "thing" was drawing...I was never even that good, but that was just my "thing" I gave it up though around highschool, which make me depressed when I realised I no longer had a "thing"

hell I dont think I was even talented..I friggen copied my (probably more talented..but lacking in actual technical skill) brothers style when I was like 5,

only relitivly recently I have begun drawing..and am making slow progress, I also have the desire to create somthing...or tell a story, somthing I might try out

I think when it comes to things like that its VERY easy to get intimidated and put off by those better than you...especially if they are considerably younger <-but I think thats somthing people get too hung up on

most of the time the best people werent the best because they were born with talent...they were the best because they drew/played/wrote/studied a metric fuckton

my point is it takes effort and work but its doable...10 000 hours!

Not before he tells you you fucking suck and you should fucking go fuck yourself because you're not fucking going to fucking cook any fucking bloody meals if he's around.

Seriously, all Gordon Ramsay shows should be just named "Gordon swears a lot". He still can cook, tho, I'll give him that.

As for my calling? Yes, I've missed it, entirely my own fault. I should have taken stuff more seriously, even when I wasn't sure it was indeed what I wanted. Still bitter about it, but I make do. Maybe I can turn it around one day, maybe not.

I'm not sure yet, as it's only just started really (and this is true for the majority of people on the escapist). I can probably either become a really good scientific researcher or really good programmer, and I'd sort of like to achieve both...

I am pretty decent at anything I put some time in. Although I don't really have a thing that stands out. Maybe hockey, but I think that's mostly because I have been doing that the longest.

Meh, probably, although the only thing I ever properly excelled at was pwning noobs in first person shooters.

Went to university, spent four years studying for a degree, finished university to find there were absolutely no jobs going, so after a year of unemployment I got into a graduate scheme, and was retrained for computer programming. It's not a bad job (really boring when there's no work though) but by the time the economy picks up and jobs start appearing again I'm going to have forgotten everything I learned at uni, so trying to get a job with my original degree will be pretty much useless.

Not yet. Currently enrolled in a program which will hopefully provide me with a job that I want to do.

Of course, there are only a few positions for that job in the entire of the city, but I'll just have to off a few people to open those positions up, right? ;D

I hope not. Almost though... I think. I'm 19 and just recently discovered my love for acting. It's something I love and, quite frankly, I'm good at, so I'm working on pursuing that. 19 is a bit late, but not terribly so.

I'm an excellent academic writer, but I need to get my doctorate before I'll get paid properly to do it. It'll happen eventually.

Well I don't consider myself a terrible writer, and I got a lot of praise from my grammar teachers in school whenever there was creative writing involved. I like writing, and am currently working on several stories. Mostly just stuff I'd like to read myself.

Would you consider being able to work with just about any kind of person a skill? If so, I also have that.

Well I was a pro at badminton (however I am NOT a pro when it come to the fast hitting version!) and drawing (I always get good grade in Art Class).
However thanks to the ingrowing toenail I hard, I skipped PE lession alot which resulted in my skill in Badminton degraded alot while I did not persuade my talent in Art either (one of my degee I would of persuade was Art) which again my talent in it had degraded aswell.

I am pretty sure I would make an amazing lawyer, but am currently majoring in mechanical engineering, even though I hate math. I am quite good at it, but I hate it so much.
