No, and I don't even know what kind of game it is, all I know is that the bird on the "cover" looks like, and it reminds me of a companion in Castle Crashers.

'Tis free on Android, so yes. Although I think I'd played it on a mate's iphone before that. It surprises me the number of people who haven't even played it one someone else's phone before!

I played it on a friend's phone and after a few minutes I was really bored.

I thought that too when I first saw it, and the reason I ignored it for a long time was because I thought it was a Castle Crashers knock off.

I played lots and lots games that are practically the same, just for free as flash games. Long before I ever heard of "Angry Birds".

No, I don't own Android/iPhone and I'm certainly not going to buy it for the PC when I can play "Crush the Castle" for free.

Yeah I played it on an iphone, it was a good distraction, but not anything I haven't seen done a million times before in other basic flash games. (In fact it's almost identical to that catapult castle flash game, and the castle one makes more sense.)

I think it's just one of the first flash games of that style to reach the casual market. Someone found it who has had no other experience with these types of casual games, got addicted, believing it to be something amazingly original told their friends, it slowly snowballed, until someone famous heard about it and mentioned it, and suddenly millions of people following them gave it a go and also got addicted.

It is a very well made and polished game, but it doesn't innovate or add anything to the gaming industry. A case of being in the right place at the right time.

^^this^^

I'll never understand why people will pay so much for glorified kongregate games. By rights, Angry Birds should free, considering it's a fairly blatant ripoff of some free flash games that were around long before it.

No HOWEVER I have played similar games such as those where you launch animals/people great distances using a catapult/cannon and others in which you either outright blow up or, use said living projectiles to destroy structures.

I actually remember making a thread about games like that...the ones in which you toss/ shoot living things long distances. Isn't Angry birds a sort of hybrid of something like those demolition games on newgrounds and those tossing/ cannon games also on newgrounds?

I played it. It's alright I guess. I would prefer Crush the Castle [http://armorgames.com/play/3614/crush-the-castle] but It's convenient to play on the go. My guess why people hate it is because it took less effort to make than the AAA titles on consoles.

If you use Google Chrome, Angry birds is free on their webstore plus extra levels.

Played it, didn't like it at all. I play those games to disestablish structures, not to precisely aim my fat birds at some pigs.

I've played it, but it gets pretty dull. I enjoy Cut the Rope more for my casual gaming.

Not until the free version came out on Google. The sound effects crack me right the hell up, and I do a level or two every now and again.
Susan hit the nail on the head.
Now that Chrome has it as a free Chrome-App thing, I use it to kill time every now and again.
I'm not going to rave about it, but it's a great little time waster when waiting around the office.
