aaaahh... the age-old question: What DO you do with new people?
Well, I very highly agree with the aforementioned piece about the distinctions between : personally, there's a clear difference between being a "newb/newbie" (a person new and unfamiliar to a game), and being an outright "n00b/noob" (aka- an ignorant asshole with their head shoved up their own ass or someone else's). And someone can be both: i've been in situations too often where you try to talk to someone, and all you get is either hate comments or draw a blank. There's also the case of the high-level n00b, otherwise known as a server jackass; unfortunately, this seems to be the path that most players take once they get to a high enough skill level.
Anyhow, I try to stick to the tried-and-true "Treat others as you wish to be treated" method. Note the word "try". Newbies, in general, ask valid questions, absorb information quickly along with methods or anything of the like, and try not to make asses of themselves. They can be fun to hang around once they get the ropes of a game, and will try hard to do things right. Now, this is the ideal, pedestal-perfect newbie, but in general, the longer they're in the game the better they will get, and the more useful they will become. Who knows? One might even break a record or something.
However, some people are so far stuck up their own asses just because they're a few levels ahead/own a character with a high level, or because they have a higher kill count, that they absolutely refuse to listen. Those people I usually end up blacklisting and/or ignoring completely, or in the case of games that allow it, kill them

Unfortunately, most MMORPGs rely more upon time spent grinding than actual skill, so there's so many more idiots running around to ruin the enjoyment -.-"
And then there's those that speak entirely too much, or not enough. Its annoying to have to sit through someone spamming shit in all caps, or screaming into the microphone their intentions, but there's nothing more frustrating than the silent treatment from someone. For both groups, I have the tendency to either kill them, leave the area, or kick them out of / outright leave whatever group has been formulated, since its not worth even being around them.
Now another annoying personality is those that "want to be your friend" outright, but that's a different topic entirely. In a nutshell: unless you know the person, ignore them or move away, because they only invite trouble upon themselves. In general, these will disappear faster than a delivery boy at an LA Fitness center, due to the fact that people will beat them over the head with the "n00b" stick over and over. Either that, or they almost ALWAYS turn out to be complete jerks and assholes themselves.
As for being a hacker, I just laugh on the inside when people call me one, since these people obviously don't know what they're talking about. Upon seeing one, however, I almost immediately hit the "Report" button if I can and drop the bastard just for entertainment. In general, hackers are n00bs. I have met some nice hackers or former ones, but the ration between smart, intelligent hacker to stupid, head-up-ass-foot-in-mouth dimwit is, unfortunately but not surprisingly, astronomically low. People don't realize that, when they hack, it disrupts the balance of a game, slows it down, and destroys an economy. Then again, an economy run essentially and mostly by twelve-to-fourteen-year-olds is bound to be fucked up right from the beginning...
