Poll: high school sweetheart

Hollywood tells us that every person, at one time or another, fell in love with the perfect mate in high school. I never bought into that myth, and coming out of a bad relationship my Sophomore year, it seemed less true then ever. So no one was more surprised then I was when I just recently found my high school sweetheart. And while I'm hesitant to use the word "Love", it seems to be the best word to describe my feelings for her. So I wonder "How many of my fellow escapists have shared this experience?" Did Hollywood get it right? Or am merely I among a lucky few?

No 'sweetheart' as such. Just a couple of girls I was into really.

I'm very shallow sometimes, but then again everyone is. I think at high school, or secondary school as it's called across the sea, no one really has a poetic soul longing for a soul mate.

I was in a pretty serious relationship in highschool, lasted till we both graduated (two years) then she decided that it was just a highschool crush and bailed.

Well, I'm nearing my third year of a relationship with a girl who I started dating near the end of my Junior year of HS.
So I have had that experience.
And I'm quite happy with her. Yaaay.

No. I have never had a girlfriend (so no high school sweet-heart). On top of that, teenage relationships that use the word love make me want to vomit.

Mine was Christina Galpaco. I was 15 she was 17 and i was the envy of all my friends.
Now my Wife makes me the envy of every body in Sicily and Northern Ireland.

I dont know im in highschool and I have one girl who if I could do something about it might be. And I have another girl who is my girlfriend, egh.

I think it's just the hightend emotions of being a teenager which turns every relationship in high school to 'love'. We think thats 'sweet' that our 'heart' was so confused in those days. Thats my theory.

I go to an all boy's school, so that's a bit of an obstacle.

I've had crushes before though (despite the extreme lack of likeable girls in the area), but no "sweetheart".

I was with her for 7 years, she was amazing. And if it wasn't for the close quarters of school I'd never have had a shot with her. The one thing I'm grateful to school for.

Hollywood has it wrong though, very few people are lucky enough to experience it.

Yup. Unfortunately it was one-sided. She had one too. He left his current girlfriend for her. When He did it again for one of his friend's exes it was somewhat of a shock. Not the dumping part just who he dumped her for.
