It was good craic and i had a lot of friends but it was always too constricting for me. The freedom that you have at uni/in the wider world makes for a much more enjoyable life for me at least.

I'm halfway through the 11th grade now...one year left!

High school, much as I said in the poll, is good. I've had a lot of awesome friends, great teachers, fun subjects. Of course, about once a month or so, some asshole goes out of their way to make sure that I am on edge and panicky the rest of the day by saying something rude. And the first half of ninth grade was kinda sucky...I'd just gotten rid of some douchebag friends, but the leader of their little group decided it was a good idea to bully me. I'd like to say I socked 'im then and there, and damn near put 'im in the hospital, but I didn't...I went to the guidance counselor instead. It all worked out for me, though. He apologised, then had a falling out with the same friends he was "in charge" of...I love karma.

Other than those two bits, high school's pretty awesome.

I kinda floated through it. I fluctuated from having many friends, to only a few, but I didn't retain many of them past highschool. I was picked on in my initial years, but took a stand and after a few scuffles, was considered a little too risky to attack for most of the bullies. My teacher's tended to like me, even though they found it irksome that while I knew much about most subjects, I would sometimes slide into apathy.
If I sound a tad blase about it all, it's because it truly wasn't that thrilling, for the most part. Still, like with anything, there were good times and bad times. I don't regret any of it.

I actually really enjoyed high school. I was, though, at a school that was incredibly academically rigorous compared to other places (but unlike many other places, I felt challenged there and learned a shitton), it was a small commmunity (~450 kids at the whole school my senior year, about a hundred less my Freshman year) and everyone was generally pretty mature but fun-loving, and the teachers were both awesome teachers and awesome people. I actually have most of my teachers friended on Facebook. So I think it was mostly the school I went to that made me think that, since my school was incredibly unusual. But, I liked it all the same. It was basically like college has been for me but with less people and less free time during the weekday because I was in school for eight hours out of the day.

I got bullied too much and it didn't help my faith in humanity when the teacher pretty much excused the bullies's horrible behavior.

I currently go to a school where the teacher give two shits about me.

Exactly. If you consider highschool to be your golden years, the rest of your life must suck.

My time in highschool has been up and down. My first year I was angry and lonely, last year I made more friends and met my girlfriend, and this year I'm getting increasingly pissed at the curriculum. It's OK.

I'll probably change this response once I'm in class again 2 weeks from now.

It was average. I probably would've been picked on more than I was, if I hadn't had someone accompanying me through the school halls. I started off frail and vulnerable and was sprinting my way through the corridors well ahead of my helper by the end of it. I don't know exactly where and when it happened, but I do know high school is where I really started building on my self-confidence.

The context is pretty simple: being disabled and suffering from a mild case of Cerebral Palsy, I tend to be physically knocked around pretty easily. Crowded halls in-between classes were a living nightmare for me for most of my Junior High years, but things got better after I was operated and received Botox shots. I discovered the joy of running my ass off instead of walking like everyone else.

The positive aspects of High School are largely physical, in my case. Puberty means an increase in muscle tone and, finally, some sort of pretension towards intellectual maturity. I've been growing a beard on an on-off basis from as early on as I possibly could, seeing as keeping a nice ring of facial hair is the only thing that defines me as a mature individual, according to some.

I'm baby-faced, even at 28. If I don't have facial hair and if my hair's been freshly trimmed, most of the bank tellers, cashiers and sales reps of this world assume I'm an early teen. So naturally, finally coming into my own physically was a life saver.

The negative aspects involved my problems with Math. The standard teaching method as defined by Quebec's Ministry of Education just never worked for me - at least, not as far as Math is concerned. I owned everyone's ass in enriched French and English classes, but I needed extra help for even the most basic fractions and algebra-related problems.

That put a bit of a damper on my overall enjoyment of the experience. I knew what my friends were working on, but I couldn't swap stories about the teacher or this or that assignment or somesuch. The handful of idiots I knew liked to assume I was a "special case" because I sucked at Math, but I've always been pretty hard to successfully intimidate. I tend not to take a lot of guff, so even the most tenacious bullies cut me some slack after a while.

So... Yeah. I can't say I completely understand where the "Ohmigawd, High School is HELL!" mindset is coming from, but I also won't go so far as to say it was one of the best periods of my life. If I *had* to give an estimate as to what my best years were, I'd say my CEGEP (also known as College) years.

As for my Bachelor's? Hm. It *was* fun, but it wasn't so much of a breeze as College was. The BA's when I really started feeling that adults could be far, far more cruel than kids ever would be. Ever sink three weeks, practically nonstop, into a twenty-page paper only to receive a middling grade for all your efforts? I have. That's Slap to the Face material, right there, and it freaking hurts.

I hated high school ... it was terrible ... worst years of my life.
College is so much better. I have more free time, more friends, less homework, and my father isn't badgering me constantly anymore.

Yep. That happened to me all the time in High School. Hasn't happened since ...

... school. Made friends, played games, went to school. Maybe I'm just a neutral person and don't feel many strong emotions, probably the case. I had fun no doubt but no "greatest days of my life"

Didn't get picked on, had a decent amount of friends, got pretty good grades without study. Not brilliant, but not bad.

To paraphrase Terry Pratchett: The best thing about time is that it keeps putting me further and further away from my high school years.

If someone every invents time travel, I would send a note back to myself letting earlier me know that I will survive it and that it WILL end. I con't think of a more uplifting moment for the earlier me during those years.

Had good grades, was well liked, had wonderful experiences with my drama group.

Good teacher, good community.

It was okay. I had good grades and did a lot of cool things like produce theatre productions for an independent company, and made my first film (it was terrible).

Some of the choices I made were not great, and if I had the chance I would do a lot of it over. Overall, I'm happy to be a "grown-up".

Shit, that happened to you in High School?! They expected you to write full-size papers in freaking High School?! Where the fuck did you go to school to? It might be because I'm from Bizarro America (e.g. Canada), but I wasn't asked for more than four or five pages a pop until I started college. Even then, it wasn't more than seven or eight pages!

So, twenty? My mind is blown.

I lived. I thought it was pretty darn good at the time, but then I went to University and found out that it wasn't all that great. University is exponentially better.
