You do realize that those of us who disapprove of homosexuality out of simple hatred can't say that we do without being bandhammer'd?
Do you?

And I can't imagine the mods would ban someone for expressing their opinion, if it was reasonably argued with decent points. If it was just "I hate gays!!!" I could understand them being smacked with the hammer.

Im indifferent. I have no problem with what people do as long as it doesn't affect me, but I'm not going to go out of my way to support people either.

I only mean to express why I have the views I have, I'd rather not get into an argument as to wither or not my views are based on something that you view as credible. There are many discussions on such subjects but those discussions are less than polite so let's leave those discussions to higher minds and decide the victors for ourselves.

And for some real comedy:

Everyone who says they're against homosexuality because it says so in teh biblez are a bunch of flaming hypocrites.

Why aren't you selling your daughters? Or beating your slaves to within an inch of their life with a rod? Or doing nothing, including lighting a fire, on Sunday?

Oh right, because you only literally follow the bible when it doesn't inconvenience you too terribly to do so.

It's absurd that you can point out a flaming fuckton of quotes from the bible and get the response of "this is open to interpretation" or "this isn't meant to be taken literally", but once you get to the gay part it MUST BE TAKEN LITERALLY.

Like the story of Noah's Ark. Oh, so that's just a nice story not meant to literally mean every single animal on the entire planet. But the gay part? Totally literal. Talking snake? Metaphor.

I understand that it's difficult to look past dogma, but can't you wrap your mind around the fact that the exact same arguments were used to justify slavery and women not having equal rights? Is it truly God's One Word that he loves everybody but the gays?

And this is why I cannot fathom taking religion seriously. Because everyone can't seem to agree on what version of God they like the most. But they can agree that God would never allow a gay man into heaven for being gay.

Think about it. A gay man, let's say he's a kind man that ends up finding the cure for diabetes. He donates all of the money he earns and lives in poverty, just so he can help as many people as possible. He prays to God regularly and accepted Jesus. But because he has a boyfriend, God's gonna turn him away?

Yeah, I'll pass on that. As I said in the "what will hell be like" thread, I think hell's gonna kick ass. And be fabulous, given how many gay men and women will be prancing about. Have fun in boring old communion heaven with country music and Jerry Falwell, I'll be enjoying some death metal with my friends xP

Honestly not sure how people can be against it... how does the harmless act that other people do, affect you in any way?
Would it bother you if someone took a dump in their living room instead of in a toilet? =P

I am against homosexuality. NOT homosexuals. It's fine if you're gay, i really don't care, i just don't want anything to do with it. I treat it somewhat like the example above in that

1) it bothers me, and
2) i want no part part of it, but
3) it's none of my business.

I'm kinda curious why a sexual species (as opposed to asexual) would develop a type of physical attraction that doesn't help with having babies, but that's not bad, right?

What i dislike even more than homosexuality, however, is someone who claims sexuality isn't a choice, and then asks me if i care. Because if it isn't a choice, it shouldn't MATTER whether or not i care, it ain't gonna change anything. Which means you're only asking to try and make me feel bad.

And yeah, I don't wanna hear this 'gay pride' stuff. If you're shoving your sexuality in someone's face, you're not "being proud of homosexuality", you're being a slut.

...

*waits for the flames*

Oh, and I'm asexual. Nobody really attracts me.

@Sudenak: One part there looked like you said gays should be let into heaven on virtue of being gay for a second =P

I support homosexuality, but passively. I wouldn't want them to be descriminated because I hate the fact that people look upon homosexual people in a different way than they see straight people.

That's just strange. Shouldn't you only start caring when someone is interesting? It's the fear of the unknown that drives people to see a differene. They then blame them by saying: "he might start liking and it'll be really awkward", even though this doesn't bother anyone that talks to a straight person of the opposite gender. It's the double standards that I hate, therefor I support homosexuality the way I support straightness; by not being indifferent about thinking of it differently.

The analogy falls apart when you work out that they aren't taking a dump in your living room. They may be taking a dump in your local park, and you may walk past it sometimes, but that's as close as the interaction goes.

What I don't understand, is if you're ok with homosexuals, what is it about their private life that you aren't ok with? That they stick their willys up each others bums, or scissor? Because man, I've slipped into a ladies nether regions before... but I'm straight.

The thing is, a lot of people like sexual acts that don't produce children. You like blow jobs? Babies don't happen that way! Hand jobs? The same! Using a condom, or going over a woman's boobies don't contribute to the gene pool either... so you don't do these things? 'Cos dude, you gotta try them, they're pretty fun!

I, along with various gay friends, don't like gay pride either. It's demeaning. It's similar to black history month in America, it's patronising, and a shell of what it once meant, but you know, sometimes people need to be in a community, regardless of their belief. Which is why moth atheists join up to the church of humanism, people need that group. For what it's worth, I live in a big city, which has a gay pride march, and I've never seen it once. It's pretty easy to avoid those things you know....

Not to nitpick, but would you ever hate someone being overly heterosexual in front of you? Even though it was without reason?
I understand that your annoyance is probably meant mostly towards feminine men acting flamboyant or something, but still.

Changing the word 'homosexual' or 'gay' into 'heterosexual' in various common statements is a quick and simple thought experiment. It might lead to some revelations to just how far we are from sexual equality.

Back on topic, I support homosexuals and homosexuality enough that I definitely would have been bi if I only had managed to muster any urges for other men. Sorry, but you are simply not sexy, lads.

I don't care for homosexuality. If someone is gay than they are gay. No big deal, its just a aspect of them and should not be a defining trait. Anyone that treats Homosexuality as a defining trait is being stupid. That goes for people who discriminate against them (the bashers) and those who go out of their way to Preform the Homosexual image (the overly flamboyant type). I particularly hate people who PERFORM their sexuality (gay or straight)as they only serve to make things worse.

I don't feel I need to support or fight against something that has no true effect on me
Just the same as I couldn't care less which girls my friends have boned this week, neither could I care if any boned guys. I personally have become aware by reading a few studies that all humans are technically Bisexual, but in various degrees.

Because of this, I choose women, it's just my preference, I'm not sure if I'd enjoy sleeping with a man, but either way, I'm not curious enough to partake. Therefore, whether anyone I know is Gay or Straight, makes no difference to me. As politics has no business in people's love lives, I will not do the same.

I find that I am indifferent to homosexuality but at times I find myself supporting it. Who am I or better yet who are we to say how a person should live. Even with me being a christian I can't say that I don't have anything against it. The world is changing and in 10 years no one will even make a big deal about someones sexual preference. Take for example 60 or 70 years ago my girlfriend and I would have been punished and probably lynched simply because I am black and she is white. Now people don't even look twice if they see interracial couples.... at least in California that is. I'm not to sure on the south states, could someone let me know.

The question is simple. Don't forget to add WHY you feel the way you do.

For my own vote, I'm a strong supporter of homosexuality, though I'm by no means gay myself. I firmly believe that, as long as it's not hurting anyone else, people should be able to live their lives however they damn well please. This includes being able to love and marry whomever they please.

So, escapists, How do YOU feel? And remember, tell us why you feel that way.

EDIT: Just so people will stop spouting it off, I realize that this is rather poorly phrased. I think most of you can glean my meaning though, without needing to point out that I could have worded this differently.
This again?

There is no question, there is no debate. You can't be against homosexuality any more than you can be against gravity. It exists - get over it.

Well not against it & not for it. I don't know any gay people, but if I did, I seriously doubt they would bother me or anything. I'm not a hateful kind of person.

Another month, another homosexuality poll! It really baffles me why it's such a fascinatng subject for some people. Ah well, each to their own.

Anyway, on topic, I'm completely indifferent to it, if someone felt the urge to sleep with, live with or marry someone of the same sex then they can just go nuts. As long as they're both happy and no-one is getting hurt then more power to them.

I believe that homosexuals shouldn't be discriminated against, by either the government or other people. Other than that, I don't really care much about homosexuality, or any sexuality for that matter. Finding out that somebody is gay or bisexual has never altered my opinion about them, as it seems largely irrelevant to the kind of person they are.
