This... I only need glasses when i want to see stuff far away or when im driving...
I didn't even think of that. More or less thought such things were covered by the other options, but I added that option to fulfill your needs.

I can't exactly drive without my glasses. Sure, I could keep in on the road, but not necessarily on my side. And I'm not going to say that I could do it for a long time, either.

Which poll option best goes with 'the computer is less than a foot away yet I can't read anything on it w/o my glasses'?

My eyes are perfect. Or maybe better than that... according to an iPad eye test. I got the bottom line at 8ft which apparently is 20/25 or something. But anyway... my eyes are good!

My gf tho... yikes. She has to put her face 4 inches from whatever she wants to see if she's not wearing glasses or her contacts.

I found out that I had bad sight when I played Bandy (a team sport on ice. Soccer-size field with clubs and a little pink ball.) I couldn't see the score or time on the score-board in the middle of the field (I was keeper, so I were on the far sides), and when someone shot the ball towards the goal, I wouldn't react until the ball were 20 meters from me. I only saw it as a dot on a two dimensional wall that were that far away. So when I got glasses I though: "Shit, I've been missing out on THIS?!?!?"

Nowadays I always wear lenses. Glasses is an obstruction in my active lifestyle.

Interesting fact, 20/20 vision doesn't actually exist in Australia[footnote=Source]My optometrist[/footnote]. Apparently it refers to the distance at which you can identify symbols or letters/numbers of a certain size.

It's measured in feet or something and it means you can read with 20(perfect score) in both eyes.

It's possible to have like 20/15 or 10/20 vision.

I have > 8/8 (Aussie equivelant to 20/20) vision. I do have an eye disorder called photophobia link [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photophobia] which basically means my eyes don't contract properly in bright light or exessive sunlight but I can see well in the dark so it's a trade off.

I have to wear sunglasses when ever I'm outside but other than that I can read this from... over 4 metres away (about 12-13 feet) on my ~12 inch monitor.

This, I'm short-sighted! Not that badly, I only wear glasses for a few hours a week, mostly for looking at boards in school or far off TVs. But my colour vision is perfect... yay?

Got a bit of astigmatism in both eyes. I can still see fine but if I have to read large amounts of small text I need glasses or else I fall asleep no matter how interesting the material is.

I'd be able to function without my glasses, to a small extent, but the world would be incredibly blurry.

The closest (naked eye) I can read the text on my screen's about 10-15cm, which is bad for my eyes so I won't try and get a closer reading.

My eyes are vastly different, but I ended up voting the "Not terrible" otpion. Glasses improve my right eye very slightly, but my left eye falls into the "Do you see that big E" category. I'm a little long-sighted (can't read text any closer than about 7cm from my face) but that is barely noticable.
I've been lucky there. My eyes have always been either the exact same prescription or very close.

I need glasses for the board, for cinema and for TV. I can see clearly for a long distance but things get slightly fuzzy and I can't recognise faces more than 20 feet away.

I can feel your pain. People are always shocked when I tell them, that without my glasses or contacts, their faces are just blurs. In fact, the whole world is.
Both of my eyes are around -5.5

Funny story: My mom once called me into the living room right before I got a shower, so I didn't have my glasses on or contacts in. She then told me to look at this thing on TV. I looked for a moment, and then told her I couldn't see it. I imagine she looked at me shocked (as I couldn't actually see her face). She didn't realize that my vision was so bad. then, oddly she apologized for it. Not about calling me to see something that I couldn't, but my vision. It was surreal as I never really thought of my vision as being anyone's "fault".

A slightly lazy eye has made my eyesight a bit poorer than a perfect 20/20, but glasses wouldn't fix it.

Well, it is really, because of her shitty genes ;) ... jk jk your mother has lovely jeans :p
-5.5 is very bad tho. I'm lucky that only one of my eyes is -3.5. If they both were (as I can imitate by closing my right eye... *closes right eye* oh god I couldn't deal with this at all :O and that's only -3.5
My commiserations for your poor eyesight v_v

I'm slightly long sighted, and twice as long sighted in my left eye than my right.

Admittedly, there is truth to that statement. Of course, my mom's eyesight is good. I think she just needs reading glasses, and she's over 50.

And yes, my eyesight is terrible, after all my own personal quote is in the poll. So at least, I have a funny statement. And it's not as bad as my sister's. So there's that.

I'm pretty massively short-sighted, but I'm fine without my glasses, I still wear them all the time though, I just feel uncomfortable without them.

My vision is decent, I don't really need glasses per se, but I have coverage so I take advantage of that. Glasses do help when I'm reading though, but I could easily manage without.
