Poll: How blind are you?

I'm short sighted to a reasonably serious degree, I couldn't safely drive without them because I would not be able to read roadsigns without getting out of the car, and I tend to wear them for the PC because I sit about 50cm from the screen so small text is a real difficulty at that distance.

For reading a book I prefer without, my eyes struggle to focus through these lens on close objects (obviously). I could read the big E though. The second line I'd begin to question what I was reading. The third line I'd request the audio tape.

I wear my glasses all of the time, things about 25cm in front of me look blurry without them.

I need glasses to be able to read any signs or pieces of paper that are more than three feet away. I'm looking over at a phone book that says PLUMBING on the binding, which is about five feet away. Without my glasses, I can't even tell that it's a word; it just looks like a long blur to me.

20/60 (left) and 20/40 (right) with massive astigmatism brought on by the development of scar tissue where my corneas have been burned. So... not terrible (except in peripheral), but I wear glasses at all times.

I'm in the "I only need glasses to see at a distance" group. Despite only need to see things at a distance, I'm wearing my glasses right now (no I'm not short sighted). The reason is just to be caution (like if I was reading a newspaper in a park, my eyes can wander to the sight outside of the newspaper) and the fact I had grown accustom to wearing it all the time.

To be able to, say, read without my glasses, my nose needs to be about 5 cm away from whatever I'm reading. So yeah... I'm just slightly near-sighted.

I've had glasses since I was... eight, I think. Though I needed them long before that.

well 20/12 can read that print pretty much

I just prefer the real charts, we're getting new picture charts where you wear goggles and a screen shows letters and the lighting hurts my eyes

Without my glasses or contacts, I am legally blind.

Legally blind means with the best possible visual correction, your eyesight is still terrible. You can't be "legally blind without your glasses" for that reason.

I can see about 6 inches in front of my face without glasses, but I'm not legally blind because glasses correct it.

I don't have any problems with my sight, I can see just fine. Though it's blurry at times when I have headaches. Was wearing glasses when I was 13 (I think I was 13), but an year later everything was fine.

my vision is fine, although i do have friends with varying degrees of glasses, mostly, though, it's superficial, they can manage without them, but not too well

I use contacts but I can see fine without them. But my problem is I cannot find anything, even when it is right in front of me and that is not because I need contacts!
